great game. jagr is apparently immortal. happy for the host country :)

(some questionable reffing though...)

A tight game...it could have gone either way...the best on the night won...pretty disspointed since it was a good finnish team. happy for the czechs..really hope they win it...my admiration to a sport legend like Jagr

I'm hoping for a total Jack Eichel show for the rest of the tourney. Just to make the draft more interesting.

Hell of a game, glad I watched it.

I wish I hadn't, just because of that Finland goal disallowed and Kontiola sent to the box for no reason and Czech scoring on that powerplay. That was completely undeserved. Game should have been 3-2 Finland, and it would have been very different. Now we will never know.

****ing IIHF reffing, every single year it is a travesty. Why can't they get it right for once?

Not that it matters, who ever was going through this game has to face an olympic roster of Canada.

Oh and joining in on the Jagr appreciation/worship. He is unbelievable, hard not to have anything but massive respect even if he seems like the grumpy cat of hockey.

Referees were bad. Two goals because of them (*), and for Czechs favor. Plus the penalties they gave. *refs calls were horrible at the time, and played a big part in the result.

But, Czech was just a little bit better, Rinne wasn't at his level. Add this into the combo, and you have a Czech win. Gongratulations, hard to say but you deserved it after all. I'll root for #93 in the semis.

And Jagr is incredible.

Now trynna forget the zebras and the game.

Huh? Olympics have better refs than IIHF.

I mean low quality reffing is constant problem in IIHF.

And I am saying that the IIHF could invite NHL referees to the tournament, but then the same people who complain about them being involved in the Olympics will complain about the NHL refs being involved in the WHC.

Not nice that both Sweden and Finland are out.

Jagr deserves to win a gold on home ice though.

Good game. Bad reffing. Better team won though.

Ps. Jagr is an immortal hockey God...I can't understand how he hasn't got a statue yet?

Can't be anything but happy for Jagr considering it's home tournament and he doesn't have many tournaments left (he's going to retire eventually, even Selanne and Chelios had to retire).

Jagr will retire in 68. He knew it in 1990, when he had chosen this number

Yeah, but those NHL refs are better than IIHF refs. Of course always someone is complaining, even if we would live in paradise.

I can't really get worked up about the reffing - I've seen much worse, and Finland wasn't the better team. I thought we were curiously hesitant and struggled in our end which was really strange against the Czechs.

I guess we have some sort of gentlemanly rule in force that we don't even try to stop players over 40yrs old. That Jagr guy is really something else...

Exactly. Even European players have gone on record to say that NHL refs are the best, but despite that, people here will continue to complain and say that they're biased. Same old same old on this forum for years.

It was a good game. Yeah, some questionable calls and non-calls, but the better team won in the end.

Yeah IIHF really has to get the refs from NHL so we can avoid ****shows like last years final and now this game.

It doesn't serve the game at all when the best professional players get together, and they are refereed by some dudes who have a day job and absolutely no accountability.

One goal game, decided by a disallowing of a perfectly fine goal, and to punctuate that **** up, they give a penalty and Czech score. That's not just a one goal difference, referee made a 2 goal difference tonight.

Not worth world championships. They have to bring in accountable professionals.

The right team won. Finland was close just because Pavelec isn't that good of a goalie. Not that Rinne had his best game either. Finland didn't really sustain much pressure in the zone and when they did it was just perimeter play with easy shots. Grandpa Jagr was a force. Very impressive.
