If its just a muscle bruise, it will be at its worst tomorrow. Hopefully he wont be so stiff he cant skate

Zooks practiced but left early for "maintenance". I could tell in the third period he was pushing through pain. I hope he is okay soon.

Vigneault said Zuccarello should be fine, lineup likely same tomorrow afternoon in Detroit. Staal still skating, in "protocol." #NYR

Aside from the month of deplorable hockey he played, I have no complaints with Zucc.

The goal drought is actually kind of hilarious only because he keeps racking up the apples. I say he bags one tomorrow, Detroit sucks and its just about time :)

11th in the league in assists. Not bad.

His shift in OT yesterday was crazy. Almost two minutes and still had the juice left to create that goal. Not sure AV was too happy about his long shift though (until he scored of course)

He is back to leading the team in points again, #1 in shots on the team, but only 6.6% went in.

If they are not going in for him but he is doing everything else then I am cool. Plus he has been doing Everything else on a grand level like putting up the apples. But yeah great shift in OT.

If they would put him back in a shooting position on the PP it would help his points and shooting confidence. Putting him in the middle of the 1-3-1 pp is such a waist. He is much better playing the sideboards and the MSL area. On the pp

Nice goal last night, great set up by Miller. Maybe with the monkey off his back he will shoot more and the floodgates will open?

I mean, he's lead the team in SOG for a while. What more do you want from him?

More quality shots instead might be better. He can keep shooting at the rate he has been. But he needs to make some better shot selection choices.

Did not know that. But yeah quality over quantity is likely the answer. I was fine with Zucc putting up the apples and his overall play, I felt the goals would come, and hope they start coming now.

I have said this a few times but this season he is not in a position to shoot on the power play. Last season he played the side boards and MSL slot area. He was great in that role.. This season they have him playing with his back to the net in the middke of a 1-3-1 power play. I hate that set up.

Feels weird to have a game where Zooks did not get an assist. He has been on such a great roll.

Zucc is competing with the assist ranking this year in NHL. So his line need a sniper like Nash, but because Nash declined last year - Zucc had an unusual amount of goals after his injury based on that reason. His main strength has always been to feed another player and line m8`s with easy goals.

Zuccarello made a comment regarding his gwg yesterday. ..
"It's nice when I can score, but I don't really think about it..."
"It makes you guys stop talking about it"

??? What? I get it that hes more of a playmaker, to go nearly 30g without scoring and act like that's not what you get paid to do?

He set up goals in that time frame, i don't care if he scores or has the primary assist honestly, aslong as he createst goals.

Zooks wants to score goals but he is not obsessed with being the goal scorer. He is a naturally unselfish player that prefers to set up other players. Last season he passed up two empty nets because he wanted to help other players score. All our forwards need to help produce goals. Zooks goal scoring hit a slump but his play making excelled. He is on pace for a career year in points and assists. He has been excellent the last 20 games or so despite not scoring goals.

Hes going to end the season with a line of something around 15-50-65 as long as he doesn't get hurt.

Amazing considering that his game was complete ass for a month.

honestly, the fanboy in me prefers that he racks up assits instead of goals now. Having a norwegian born player on the official top10 point listing when the season ends would be a bit of a wondeful dream

Yeah, well said. Unselfish was def the word I was looking for, with him. He's racking in the apples so he has been productive. Just been snake-bitten since he has been shooting the puck.

There were times I literally saw him shooting for the purpose of a deflection or rebound which will often produce goals but for other people. He is just a team first guy. He doesn't seek the glory. Even in his interview he passes the credit away.

He's like the most unselfish player in the league. And he only cares about his TEAM winning, he doesnt seem to care at all about his on personal stats as long as the team is winning. Which is why its so easy to root for the guy. He is just what i personally love to see in a team based game. A player that for once is not busy thinking about himself and his own stats and making the most money.
It will be a very sad day when he leaves the NYR wether it be by trading or retirement.

And he must be like the most consistent player the NYR has had the last 3 years both in points but also in his average play both sides of the rink. AV called him one of the best two way players on the team. And point production aside, these last couple of weeks i have been pleasantly suprised everytime i've seen him on the ice. Winning board battles. Facing alot bigger "tougher" guys that him and not backing down one inch, getting pucks on net, making some great plays all over the ice. He has been on a different level then any other NYR each game except one. The one in Detroit he had a quiet game and Hayes was our best forward when he was on the ice(playing wise), but still Zucc made the game winning assist and that counts when its all about the team winning and getting them points to get into the playoffs.

I wish we were sending Zucc to the all star game instead of McDonagh.

I think Zucc need the game off tbh. And i think if asked he would rather not go. Remember the played alot of games before the season started. He is the NYR with the most games so far this season if you include all the WC and olympic qualifier stuff he played.

One of the reasons i think he had a down period in the end of dec, he must of been quiet tired. I hope he gets to have some games off before the playoffs, because if he comes back and have a month or two like this in the playoff, we will get far.

On the other hand, i dont think McD has been our best player this year, and this whole "all star" thing is just a load of....
