That was a nice hit by Zooks. Also saw Miller went after Zooks. That is what teams do. I wish we stood up for each other more. We do at times but not nearly enough.

Just heard Zucc is nr.4 in NHL history when it comes to shootouts. Its safe to say he is one of the best ever in NHL shootouts. :handclap:

Wow that is shocking. I did not think he was that high but he is shooting 80% this year. He is really mixing up his shootout attempts well so far this season.

You have to trust that AV knows those stats and will put him in every shootout. But to me the takeaway here is that Zuccs is a natural sniper and he really needs to be more selfish in regular play and take the shot instead of trying to make the perfect pass every time

I agree with you. I'm sure there are times Zooks comes back to the bench thinking he wished he had shot. He is just naturally unselfish. If I was his coach I would tell him that instead of looking for the pass on the PP I want him to come off those sideboards and wind up for his slapshot. He has a pretty good slapshot but he only uses it around 5 times a season.

I was looking at the shootout stats and Zooks is right up there with the best. Oshie, Barkov, Toews, Zetterberg etc are all very good but Zooks has been darn good himself.

I agree - I wish he practice his shooting skills similar to Marty earlier before or after ice practices so much potential there.

He shot a lot more like Marty last season. Last season they put him in Martys spot on the PP and Zooks scored a bunch from that area on the PP. This season he spent 75% of his PP in the middle of that goofy system where he had his back to the goalie 35 feet out from the net. He was rarely in position to be a shooter.

Has looked a lot more like the doo-doo November version the last 3 or 4 games.

Come back, real Zucc.

I dont really care how much he scores when he plays the twoway game he is but it would be really fun if he could have one season where he could put up 70+ points.
He is by far our best backchecker and he is top 5 in the NHL in takeaways etc. He is consistently scoring 50-65 points a season and with the twoway game he plays thats a massive steal for 4,5 mill from a player who signed a contract right before becoming an UFA.

Another nice gesture from Zuccarello.

The story:
A women´s hockey team in the city of Tromsø in Northern Norway wanted to compete in the Norwegian Championships i Stavanger this March. The problem was money. Women´s hockey in Norway is not professional, so the players have full time jobs (or in this case they half of the team are students), and there are not a lot of money in the clubs.

They started an online fund raising campaign, with a goal of NOK 12000. And who else than Mats Zuccarello himself contributed with the whole amount of 12000 NOK (about $1400).

Not a huge amount for him of course, but enough to secure their trip to Stavanger to participate in the championships.

A real cool story from Norway :)

Going to miss Zucc if he's ever dealt (though I get it). What a story his career has been, and by all accounts a great guy too.

I feel like he has hit 10-20 posts this season so Im surprised he still has been able to score 15 goals and 52 points so far this season. Last game he was a more aggressive shooter. I liked that. The NBC guys hilighted him as our guy that was making things happen.

Main board showing some love for our little Hobbit

But regarding the question about no media coverage, i feel he gets talked about alot in NY, but elsewhere its pretty dead unless he is involved in a game thats being showed. He gets mentioned alot every time he plays, but outside the game no one seems to talk about him media wise.

He's amped up production again as well. Unless AV rests him, I think he can crack 60 again this year.

Not gonna happen. I would be surprised if AV doesn´t rest him a couple games. He has had a tough season, with olympic qualifiers for Norway and made it to the finals in WCH, and has the most ice time of all forwards on the team.

On the other hand, Steps seems to finally have heated up when i comes to scoring, so there should be a chance for some more assists for Zucc. Talking about assists, he has tied his own season record with 40 (26th in the league, tied with Crosby), so he only needs one more to set a personal best in assists this season.

Congrats to the little guy for another personal record. Another assist tonight, and 41 on the season.

Zuke is an absolute key player on this team. He is one of the few who can make things happen, sometimes out of nothing. He makes his teammates better and that's usually a quality only franchise players have. I would argue he's been the best forward overall over the last couple of years and his absence in the playoffs really showed.

He's an elite two-way winger in this league IMO.

Sometimes I wish Zooks had a guy like Zooks setting him up. He gives guys so many easy goal attempts. There is a guy on our team that only passes when he has little choice. Zooks is the opposite. He tries to give guys a pass at the best time for his teammates. Crazy that our little undrafted free agent has a chance to lead our team in points for a third time in the last 4 seasons.

He's going to be too valuable even in the last year of his contract to be worth trading.

Move Nash, it's what should have been done by the deadline. He looked like straight ass last night (though he's been better the last few games otherwise)
