  • We're expecting server maintenance on March 3rd starting at midnight, there may be downtime during the work.
Leafs fans have suffered enough, we don't need to be bored to death by Tortorella style hockey.

Torts coaches the players that he has. When he won the cup in TB (with a similar roster construction to our current one btw - 3 star forwards and a competent but not outstanding D), Tampa was the 3rd highest scoring team in the league.

Thornton-Simmonds-Mik haven't done squat , Hyman isn't a core piece and has also been brutal .

if Willie isn't going Kerfoot goes back to being invisible

basically it's just Spezza playing well out of our vaunted depth

M and M need to produce but we still should have finished off the Habs before game 7 if our depth was anywhere near as good as it's made out to be on this forum
Our depth is the only reason we are in this series. Our depth has carried our core. We need our stars to win a game for us.

MAJOR TRADE

Matthews , Nylander, Reilly 23.6 conditional 1st SC win 1st year or second if no win

McJeebuzz, Neal, Turris and Klefblom 24

money works and it's fairly even, so there ya go

I know they say if you get the best player in the a deal you win it, but that's pretty bad for Toronto.

Let's say Rielly+Matthews for McDavid+Klefbom ks even. McDavid is better than Matthews and Rielly is better than Klefbom. It ends up being Nylander for Turris+Neal lol

I’m gonna assume you meant 7th overall pick cause Marner for a 7th would be absolute highway robbery jayzus man you can be fed up with a lack of production but don’t let it blind you
This is true..... but the cap space has value as well.... but, yes, you’re right. I exaggerate

Any talks past Marner/Matthews are pointless. Rest of the roster has been great so far, even Rielly.

Matthews won't be traded, so it's pretty much Marner and Nylander that will be the targets of any rumors

the only reason we're in this series is because the Habs are crap
The Habs are not crap. On paper, they look like they should not be in this series, but they are a scrappy, quick, pesky team who thrives in the underdog role. They have nothing to lose -- the Leafs were supposed to beat them easily. They are an annoying team because they are quick and can take your space away immediately. They work hard and have a couple of horses on the back-end in Weber and Petry. And and elite goaltender in Price of course.

Before this series started, most astute hockey people felt this was a tricky match-up for the Leafs, and it's proven to be true.

Sure the money works but Neal and Turris are garbage and Klefbom is not as good as Rielly.

I'd do Marner, Nylander, Rielly for McJesus, Nurse and Turris.

The Bruins would swallow them in 4 and probably give up less than 4 goals.

the Habs are crap , next year in our regular division they don't sniff the playoffs

tricky matchup ? the matchup was a gift from the hockey gods , next year we'll have a ''tricky'' match-up in Bos or Tampa , lol

If the Leafs make a blockbuster in the offseason, I'd look to something along the lines of...

1. Sandin, Robertson and a pick to Columbus for Jones. Or, Marner for an extended Jones.

2. Marner and Liljegren to Philly for Konecny, Laughton, Sanheim and a pick.

I think they either make a whopper for a monster D like Jones or swap some finesse up front for a little more jam. A potential deal with Philly intrigues me because Konecny and Laughton would be perfect complimentary players for this Leafs core.

Robertson and Amirov can add more raw skill and Konecny and Laughton mix in some sandpaper. Konecny is a Brendan Gallagher-ish player who can score 25-30 goals. The Leafs need this type of player.

Up the middle the Leafs could be set with Matthews, Tavares and Laughton -- then figure out how the rest shakes out. Surround these guys with wingmen like Nylander, Konecny, Hyman, Robertson, Amirov, etc. That should be enough offense up front.

Dubas would have to have a gold statue put up in front of the arena. Holland on the other hand, would have to go into witness protection. Brutal for the Oilers, and I’m a Leafs fan.

The Habs in isolation aren't "great on paper" but they are a pain to play.

Yes, because this was a trap match for the Leafs. If they beat the Habs in 5, they were supposed to. If they end up going to 7, they potentially face an epic meltdown. If they lose to the Habs, it's a disgrace. That's a lot of pressure and then you add the rivalry on top of it.

Yes, of course Boston and Tampa are (or should be) tougher match-ups. Hopefully next year they don't come until the 2nd or 3rd round though.

Don't forget Florida. Possible we finish fourth and battle for a WC unless father time catches up to Bergeron.

Add in the fact that their young up and coming stars are producing and ours are not

We all have many and varied opinions as to needed trades but the real elephant in the room is who should be in control of that trade.
