Well you didn't want ppl to split hairs but you said EVERYONE but two guys were having down years. So I brought up some guys who weren't.

Stoll isnt garbage he's an overpaid 3rd line center who does exactly what's asked of him except score lots of goals and to that end he's actually on pace to score more than he usually scores for this franchise.

Williams offense isnt down...his assists are. Anyone's would be if they were stuck on a line with Dustin Brown and Jarret Stoll.

In the end, the only guy who's been garbage is the captain. His offense has brought new meaning to the saying "down goes Brown". A case can be made that Brown's regression offensively has cost this team 5 or 6 wins and any chance we had vs. CHI last year and this year.

Remember when Lombardi put his name out there before the SC Run? Well I think the guy needs either a wake up call or a complete change of scenery because he's been awful for quite sometime now. This could be a lubomir pre-contract trade situation all over again.

Was just talking about this with a buddy...between Brown and Richards, we're missing out on how many goals? 10? 20? If we had those, how many more wins would we have?

Most is a strong word.

Williams is on pace for 22 goals, which is what he usually does for the Kings. He's been in the 55-60 point range, but is on pace for 46. Kopitar is on pace for 22 goals, which would be his lowest in a full year since his rookie year. He's on pace for 65 points, which is also a good 10 points below what you would expect.

A lot of that is the coaches fault. Williams main strength and what he is arguably the best at the league in, is just getting the puck and maintaining it in the offensive zone, but he isn't so great at turning that possession into points, what he needs is a star player on his line, so that he picks up points by constantly getting the puck and giving it to them. Which is why him and Kopitar worked so well together. With Brown and Stoll, he gets the puck only for 1 of them to turn it over

Lmfao at the idea of adding Mike ****ing Green. Worst defensive defenseman in the league, bar none. Utter trash. And he's not good enough offensively to produce the way Carts has. It won't translate.

Worse defenseman in the league is too strong. worse defenseman making $6MM is more likely.

I said defensive defenseman. Not just defenseman. In terms of actual defense, you'll be hard pressed to find any worse. Randy Jones was better. And I can verify that because I've watched good ol' Randy play this year.

I gotta wonder if browns play is due to mgmt telling him to not knee anybody, hence him playing less physically. Also, richards dropoff due to mgmt telling him not to get concussed anymore. I think mgmt might have something to do w the recent dropoff. They just don't play like they used to.

I doubt that's why Brown isn't playing well. He either is having his own health issues, and/or his game has been neutered due to every hit he gives being deemed "dirty" and every penalty he draws being labeled "diving". This leads to him questing his instincts and hesitating while on the ice. Those few moments are what's keeping him a step behind everything.

As for Richards, he seems to feed off the energy from the rest of the team. We're losing and everybody except for Quick, Doughty and Carter seem apathetic about it. He needs to get hungry for that Cup again. In fact, a lot of our guys need to get their hunger back.

I didn't read all the comments so I don't know if this was mentioned already. Also, I'm not a stats guy, I just love the game and love the Kings but this is what I have noticed with Brown.
When Brown was sick a couple weeks ago for what was it about a week or more, he came back and you could tell he lost quite a bit of weight. He hasn't been the same since. Maybe this has something to do with his recent play.
Just an observation.

As for the rest of the team, they just need to attack the net! Someone needs to light a fire under there a$$es!

Brown is one of the most consistent players we've had in a long time... He was good throughout the last regular season and went down in the playoffs and has obviously been struggling since, but was injured. If anyone deserves another season to turn it around it is him. His complete game is very valuable to the team as well as his leadership qualities.

As long as the major minute players are healthy at the trade deadline, I don't see DL doing any major. Not his MO. The only thing this group of players have proven to be is streaky. So, as long as they are hanging around a playoff spot, I'm pretty sure there is going to be no panic.

Kopitar is fine , but he is not as good as we make him out to be offensively

He will never be a consistant 80-90 point player, unless someone like Zykov turns into the next Corey Perry.

He would be a 80-90+ point player every year if we played a dumb style of hockey like say Phily does...... You know where you don't have to back check. But then again we would go out in the 1st round of the playoffs every year playing that style.

A lot of people on these boards think the problem is with individual players. Its not. Its a team problem. The team lives and dies off of each other. If one player isn't performing up to standard, then the rest of the team suffers, ie, King does not bring a top 6 skill set and so the rest of the team will fail to function correctly--he is incorrextly slotted. There are also problems with the defense, such as muzzin who is worthless in the d zone. His poor play affects others on the team. So u see, the problem is best explained holistically, and not by singling out every player. 5 players in the top 6 serve an important role, but king is diminishing their role. 5 dmen serve an important role, but muzzin destroys their production and balance. A trade to replace king and muzzin would do this team wonders, even if its a trade that involves average players.

I had run some more stats yesterday but didn't have time to compile them before my sick 4 year old took over my life as he does from time to time (every minute of everyday actually...no qualms, I love the little dude) but anywho...I wanted to see if I could pinpoint a game where Brown fell off the wagon so to speak. I did...it was April 9th in Dallas. Not only did he not have any points in that game. .no real shame in that, but he was a career high minus-4. Including that game and the next 6 plus the playoffs and this season, Dustin has 16 goals in 76 games (he averages 23 for 82 prior to 4/9/13) which isn't great, but not incredibly bad, but two areas where he's really been sub-par are on the PP (4 goals in that stretch) and just getting others involved (7 assists in 76 games.....seven! He averages 27 per 82).

Dean Loves the guy so I'd be shocked if he were traded, but he traded Lubomir before his contract kicked in and did well with that deal....I'm not saying he should, but Brown has to round out his game or the playoffs will be over quicker than any of us want to see it over.
