I really wish they would try going back to the old lines of Brown, Kopi, Williams and Carter, Richards, was it King? I think we are missing the quality matching of players who compliment each other nicely.

I don't share the anti Kopi talk while I do wish he played a bit more aggressive with the puck and made his own plays, he is still a puck control master and good passer.

Some thoughts and lineup changes

Lineup changes:
1. Move Carter to C and Brown to RW >>> All LW and LD shoot left and all RW and RD shoot right / 2 left centers and 2 right centers
2. Call up Vey and Pearson >>> Play 3 best forward prospects (includes Toffoli) / Need goals from all 4 lines
3. Trade Stoll (the good soldier but with Kopitar, Carter, Richards and Stoll all 53-54% on faceoffs and Stoll UFA after next season it's time to make a CHANGE), Lewis and Fraser (have had their moments but neither does much and both UFA after this season, so it's time to make a CHANGE) >>> get a few draft choices/entry level contract guys for Manchester
4. Add couple of useful spare forwards

Pearson-Kopitar-Williams (maybe TP can be the sniper)
King- Carter-Toffoli (TT has to get quality minutes)
Clifford-Richards-Brown (a checking line that could actually score goals too)
Nolan-Vey-Frattin (less heavy and more energy)

Mitchell-Doughty (DD doesn't "watch your back" the other guy-JM)
Regehr-Voynov (can stay together ES/PP/SH)
Muzzin / Martinez-Greene (always an effective adventure to stir things up - RE-SIGN Greene)

Quick (#1)
Jones (#2 with a future)

Thoughts:
1. Tweak the number 1-2-3-4 line model to create 4 lines that are more balanced and harder to match up against
2. Go back to the D pairings of one offensive minded and one defensive minded guy per pair
3. The players have to ignite their passion to play hard and play to win themselves / NO BIG NAME RENTALS NEEDED / build and improve from within / it's not unheard of for a team to jump start itself with the kids rather than the names

I like where you head is at but I don't think TP is even ready to be in the NHL let alone play top line minutes. If Stoll is moved than maybe he is used to bring back a LW.

Pearson is not even ready to handle fourth line mintues.....

Fantasy land folks.....Fantasy land.

And Stoll lands you a 3rd round pick at best......GM's are not going to be doing Lombardi any favors.

I am not even Sure Vey is ready for anything other than fourth line Role.

Toffoli is the only one so far that can play at a high level. Just has to work on his consistency.

That looks bad. Pearson is flat out not ready for the NHL.

With the top 9 we have, we can't have Carter at center right now without a trade. I'll just say Moulson is the player we get (Pearson+)

Moulson-Kopitar-Toffoli
King-Carter-Williams
Brown-Richards-Vey
Nolan-Stoll/Lewis-Lewis/Frattin
Clifford, Frattin/Fraser

Kopitar can't provide the only puck possession on his line(the line faces the other teams best defenders)

Moulson/Toffoli would constantly get stripped of pucks.

Moulson/Kopitar/Williams
King/Carter/Toffoli
Brown/Richards/Nolan Bang line (just bang the crap out of people)
Clifford/Stoll/Lewis (this in a fourth line role might actually work)

The only why I can see Toffoli playing with Kopitar, is if the LW is a possesion/Big body LW

King/Kopitar/Toffoli. Toffoli can't create his own offense, he is also not good at bringing the puck out of corners, the kid is just not there yet.

Pearson may not be NHL ready yet, but most of the rest of the Kings don't appear to be NHL ready either.

TT 5 gwg is clearly not on a level where he can contribute to this team winning games. Well Sutter can't figure out how to properly use his assets, but whatever. You are just wrong/blind/in denial if you can't see that TT can contribute to this team. Also would be nice for him to get more experience with guys other then Fraser. Maybe he'd be able to develop the rest of his game with more time instead of riding the bench. It is Pejorative Slured for Sutter to not get TT experience before the playoffs. Clearly demonstrates why Sutter should be fired. He just doesn't get it.

Who's your first forward in on this line to provide "jam" and puck possession in the O-Zone? And remember, in the Kings system, The center iceman is responsible for all 200 feet of the ice defensively. No Kings forward adheres to that more than AK11, so you can't really rely on Kopi (or any Kings center) to play "jam" forward on dump and chase.

Brown, KFC, King, Nolan, Carter (sometimes) are all wingers who provide the first forward pressure you need to retrieve pucks on D&C. TP won't do that and Williams is unreliable and smallish in on the forecheck. So far Toffoli hasn't been consistent in this area. He'll have to add jam to his game to play in LA. It's partially why Teddy Purcell and Matt Moulson were let go.

I can tell you now, THAT first line won't work. I realize lots of folks here are trying to find ways of getting the kids in on top lines..I'm not against it, but that line won't work. You do need some size and the willingness to give or take a hit to make a play.

I have Toffoli in my top six....

Makes sense, thought Moulson could do a bit of what King does. Makes more sense to do

King-Kopitar-Toffoli and Moulson-Carter-Williams then
Moulson-Kopitar-Williams and King-Carter-Toffoli. Would rather split up the top 2 pure shooters then keep them together

Why do people insist on such narrow/confining required necessary attributes/roles for different players on various lines based on a team's style of play and system? There isn't some perfect calculation of a teams' makeup that will guarantee dominating success.

Look at the top scoring 90 forwards in the league, a number 1 line "per team" if you will. Who says Williams or Pearson can't forecheck and dig out pucks or that Toffoli can't provide more to the offense than a good release or that guys like Clifford or Nolan or Frattin can't run interference for their linemates or Vey can't be a pesky 8-10 minutes per game 4th liner for the rest of the season or Brown wouldn't benefit from playing a defensive role that could open up his offense.

Put away the excuses, be prepared and execute. Play hockey with some heart and determination and try to win another cup. Sutter's "safe" (defense first) system needs some attitude, wildness, unpredictability, well placed attempts to over achieve in order to succeed and win. The Kings proved it once already and they can do it again, if they let themselves.

We do need some fine tuning up front (top 6 LW) and on D (new partner for Doughty) as well as behind the bench (PP coach)... Even if it does cost us roster player(s)...chances are the hole will be filled in with the kids...

Bang on. We need...

1. Winger for Kopi.
2. Partner for Doughty and another 3-6 defenseman.
3. A radically different offensive coach - Peter Laviolette.

I'm not sold on the price it would take to acquire Moulosn since essentially he's a rental (obviously we'd go all in to sign) but I wouldn't mind seeing...

Moulson / Kopitar / Carter

Front of net guy with a playmaker and a sniper. Looks good on paper at least...

Oh, **** this is nearly the line except King exchanged for Moulson.

you have to admit though, Moulson has really developed a knack for scoring goals around the net, wether that was with his boy on the Islanders or in the hell hole Buffalo.

Right?

Brown having an awful year with a new contract kicking in next year, Stoll is bad, Clifford is bad, Greene can't stay healthy, Regehr is bad, and Muzzin is dumb. I'm guess the Rangers, Sabres, and Flames can't wait to line up for that.

We're moving away from the system that made the team successful. We used to pound the **** out of the opposition and capitalise on their turnovers. It'd be great to add another top 6 player but can we realistically afford one?

It might be interesting to see if Andreoff or Sabourin(or both) could inject a bit more fire into this team to create space for our skilled players (similar to the King, Nolan callup before). Nolan seems to be about the only King player sticking to the game plan.

We're not the Oilers. We just need to put the puck in the net a few times more. We still have the best D in the league and talent at all positions. Some of that talent just needs to play a whole lot better.

I am kind of adhering to this mindset. This team was dominant no more than a month and a half ago. Somewhere along the lines we lost confidence and lost our game. Not to quote players a bunch but guys need to buy in. If not..THAT is when you make a chance.
