Even on Corsi (+12.5% rel), 61% Fenwick (+24.7% rel), even on SOG (+10.61% rel), 48.98% xGF% (2nd on the team, +12% rel) at All Strengths, including on the PK.

8:33 TOI, lowest on the team by almost 30 seconds. Because...REASONS.

(in the event that he's hurt, I'm pissed off at whatever caused it, not Quinn. If he's not though...)
He wasn't really noticeable... Frankly nobody was. We played a pretty crappy game..just finished on like every high quality chance we had.

It's kinda funny...my takeaway from this game isn't about lias...or howden or buch or panarin...
My only takeaway was...man trouba is a heck of a player. Like that's it. The rest of the team... Blech
What about Panarin? Lundqvist? And the player of the game - Mikachu?

Less than 3 minutes a period is sad, especially considering he made a few noticeable plays.

Kid needs more minutes. And with better players too. Smith had more minutes than Andersson.

I mean, come the **** on. Strome played almost 19min tonight.

I’m a big fan of Quinn but he’s putting Lias in position of failure instead of success.

Play. Lias. More.

He was good tonight. Showed more than Strome and others. Hopefully he gets the opportunity to do that.

I guess.. I mean points wise he certainly did, it felt like territorially they werent dominant. They put up points, sure. But was helleybuck even remotely good tonight? Was their d even remotely good?

Their (Winnipeg's)o was coming fast, furious, and engaged. Trouba handled it all and put up points.

Mika was good...but to me, he's had better games.

Mika was clearly the best player on the ice tonight. It’s not even debatable. He was a ****ing animal.

Maybe he has played better games but despite Trouba’s exceptional night, Mika was the obvious POTG.

The worst part is Howden getting the GWG is going to get him even more playing time than Lias.
Howden is a Ranger too.

Honestly you guys need to have more patience with Lias. He's been in the organization for 2 years. That's not long at all. There are 81 games left. It could be another 2-3 seasons before he's playing an important role in the NHL, and that would not be an abnormal timeline at all.

Zibby obviously had a great game in terms of production and he was flying out there, but he looked almost like he was trying to do everything too fast. He failed at receiving a LOT of passes, either being too quick ahead or behind where the puck was going or just fumbling it off his stick. I was actually going to post a comment saying “Has Zibby successfully received a single pass tonight” at one point lol. I don’t know if others noticed this

By this logic, pre season and training camp doesn't mean anything. Why even have players show up then?
Believe me bud.......I don't agree with what I said.......players need to "earn" their playing time and which line they are placed on. You know as well as I (probably better) that there are also mitigating circumstances, WHO plays better with whom, consistency, (or lack of) etc.
I dont like, and never have........liked a coach that seems to play favorites......now, that can only be "our" perception, but only the coach and his mates KNOW why they do things.

Well said. This is why I never worry about the coaches decisions. I know they make good and bad decisions but there are so many variables it's just (in my opinion) silly to speculate. I watch the games. I look for positives. I hope they represent better things to come. And 99% of the time I'm disappointed. But that's cool. There's always next year. And as long as I've got a 'next year' it's allllll gooood.

Sure it's debatable..I'm debating it. I'll say it again...Mika was playing against a defense that kinda sucked, and against a goalie that kinda sucked.

Trouba was playing against an offense that was pretty damn awesome.

Both guys produced.

I think trouba was the best player on the ice tonight....and it's not really debatable.

Which I guess makes it debatable :)

I am one of the biggest supporters of Lias around and thought he actually played very well in his limited minutes. He was very noticable when he was on the ice and looked like he belonged. The reason why Howden gets the trust of the coaching staff was very evident last night, he is much better on faceoffs then Lias is at this point.

I mean, Howden went like 4/14 last night

Howden FO%: 29%
Lias FO%: 25%

Is that really much better?

Here's what I don't get...regarding last night...why are so many people fixated on howden vs lias...when the real story should be howden AND lias vs strome.

Strome was putrid last night and a big giant gaping black hole of suck hurting his wingers.

Would howden or lias be any worse playing those minutes? I have my doubts.
