This kid is going to surprise a lot of people this season. Mark my words.

Awesome. Good for Lias. Happy he is taking the next step. I was hoping he or Chytil would do such. Still plenty of time for Chytil as Lias is older.

It will be a big shot in the arm to the team if Andersson continues to develop. Sometimes it takes a few years to figure out the pro game and find what your body needs to compete at the highest level. Seems to me he’s found it and it will certainly translate to the ice and his self confidence.

And I’m loving the # switch. 50 is gone and he’s got a new level so why not make the switch. Loving the 28 selection

Extremely disappointed to see lias on the 4th line. His play deserves the 2nd line... 3rd line at worst.

I'm a believer in you earn your ice time..I'm also a believer in not giving people the ice time they earn has a trickle down affect throughout your entire organization

Totally bananas but it is what it is. Like AK said, he's going to surprise a lot of people throughout this upcoming season. I am a firm believer of that.

28 is much more of a boss number for sure.

Sad day. #RIP50

Despicable. Just a move to sell more jerseys. They clearly told him they'd send him down otherwise and he clearly gets a cut.

and if I don't point out this is sarcasm i wonder how many people would wonder? I wouldn't blame you either based on some of the whoppers people are throwing out there lately. Speaking of whoppers that new burger king plant whopper is bangin

Just a random thought, do you guys think we are monitoring the conditioning of these games during games? Like pulse, VO2 (is that measurable even with like a belt) etc? I’ve never been into that type of equipment myself so I don’t know much about it.

But I know Winnipeg did that last season. I can’t find it now, but there were comments from Maurice on that like ‘when I look at the data and see that even Wheeler is [winded] I know that line needs a rest’ and stuff like that.

I was thinking if that is playing a part in DQs decisions to hold Lias’ usage back a little. I’ve been paying close attention on if he breaks down late in shifts and haven’t seen anything that stuck out, but it was a problem last year. Maybe he still is on the verge there and they want to make sure that he can stay afloat during the time he gets?

Hopefully it'll be more like expectations met (at least in my case). This guy should be a 2/3C for the next 10 years and I said that right after he was drafted. He's an easy guy to root for. I'm with you, though, I think he takes a big step this year.

I think if we were monitoring that stuff, a bigger deal would've been made out of it by now.

Glad he switched away from 50. Wanted an Andersson sweater since we drafted him but hated 50. I’ll send my blank authentic in for 28.

I definitely feel if he picks up where he left off, he'll be there in no time. That would be wonderful for everyone --- him, the team, these boards...

I think there's little to no difference between the third and fourth lines at this point, other than combinations. As such, we could find they are used somewhat interchangeably.

Lemieux and Andersson will be getting 3rd line minues by the 2nd game of the season. Both should not be on the 4th line and won't last their long if they keep up how they played in the preseason.

I dunno, 3-4 extra minutes a night is a bit of a difference.

I'm not entirely sure that's how it might play out, at least consistently. I could see that difference being smaller, and possibly rotated a bit --- especially if Andersson brings what he brought in the preseason.

Ultimately, more than anything else, that's probably what's going to dictate how Andersson is used. If he can maintain his play from the preseason, I think Quinn will get comfortable with him. In that case, the microscope would definitely be on Quinn as far as this board is concerned. And justifiably so.

if the only difference is the line combos than no big deal but its still to be seen how the ice time is divided up at even strength (looks like Lias will be a key PKer)...i'd expect the top line to get big minutes, 2nd line will get their minutes...does that leave enough minutes for the 3rd and 4th lines to get more than 10 minutes each? my concern is the 4th line will get well below 10 minutes which is a problem regardless of if the 4c is lias or howden.
