His actually shouldn't be too hard ("Chair-knee-shohv"), which makes it even funnier
Right? It may not be immediately obvious how it should be pronounced if you aren't familiar with Russian names, but once you hear it once, it's easy to get. I think I've heard about six different pronunciations from the Sudbury announcers tonight alone.

"Mark Stone"
"Jamie Benn"
"Sasha Barkov"

Woah.
Oh you.

My favorite has been the pronunciation of Chernyshov that literally rhymed with "permissive". Like, change out the P for a Ch and the m for an n.

Great first period for Musty, created a half dozen grade A scoring chances even if only one went in the net. Then Sudbury Sudbury'd.

Chernyshov was solid, not his best game. Still ended up with a pile of PP points.

Didn't see but Dickinson and Halttunen lit up Owen Sound. Not too shocking, but Sam is getting hot again, it's good to see.

To sum up last nights Sharks to the left Sharks to the right OHL-scoreboard:

#1 star: BDE, 1G, 3A, +5, 10, yes ten shots
#2 star: Halts, 2G, +2, 2 shots = shooting 100%
#3 star: Mark Stone, 3A
#4 star: Q 1G, according to Juxta could have had a hell lot of more

As someone who has a Russian name, I’ve spent my life watching the light go out of people’s eyes when they try and pronounce my said-exactly-as-written last name. They start making up letters, changing sounds of things, it’s like watching an aneurysm in slow motion.
