Just watched Hustle on Netflix. It's pretty good, pretty good indeed. Some cringe parts like any movie, but overall a good sports movie imo.

Everytime a new Fast & Furious comes out, I always think of this:

It's gotten shameless though.
Did you see what Marvel is doing?
They have everything planned out will 2025 with like 10-12 movies/series each year coming out. Freaking ridiculous.
It's kinda like how studios decide what music we get to listen to. I do Mtl-Laval for work in the car, put sirius XM and over that 1h of driving, that new Cardi B song comes around 3 times.
When Beyonce dropped her comeback song a few weeks ago, I heard it 5 times during the day.

It's pretty ridiculous.

I'm a comic book fan. So I'm happy with the MCU. I'm also a big Star Wars fan, so I'm happy with all of their series. So you know I'm big on Disney+ (I'm actually watching the Gargoyles cartoon from the 90s right now).

But I know what you mean with everything. There is a lack of diversity in movies and music, something we had more of before.

I'm not familiar with this one. Don't think I've ever knew about it. :|

Nine seasons... wow, I think it's too much of a commitment for me to investigate the show at this point.
Really? the Brits consider it to be one of the best series ever? Can't commit to a whopping 34 episodes?

If you’ve been reading @GoodKiwi over the years, he has an aversion to series that cover such a long timespan of episodes. And yet, he’ll vouch for Bosch (7 seasons), which he’s watched many times over.

Quality > Quantity

I feel like the quality dropped by a whole lot over the last 2 years. I'm not sure if I should blame covid or the writers. The fact that they promote diversity over quality kind of grind my gears too. I was a huge Star Wars fan but the last few shows have been a bit of let down.

I don't have a problem with Star Wars series..I have a tough time following it but I can appreciate the path that series took.
It's like the X-men that I enjoyed following, at first. Then they got sloppy. But I was fine with the Avengers coming in to takeover as the new superhero series to watch, but then every character also got their own freaking movies, and now it's just neverending.

I asked my colleague today who's big into movies/shows, what was his last non-superhero related movie/show he watched and it hit him he couldn't name it. There's just too much of it for me right now.
I have a few that I'm waiting for...Wakanda Forever and Blade. Those are the two projects that I'm excited to see come to life. Otherwise...meh.

You @Runner77 know me very well.

Yeah, mini-series is my thing mostly. At least when it comes to BBC One/Two productions. Although most European series I watch are mini-series.

It's different with North American shows. We do not produce primarily short ones. That only became a trend of "premium" networks relatively recently. HBO, Showtime and such.

Most mainstream TV Networks still run 20-24 episodes per season and milk decent shows for all they're worth. Not always a negative mind you. Episodic TV shows can be alright, but they are rarely of top tier. Bosch falls into this middle as well. Good, decent, but not standout.

P.S. I'm not going to mislead anyone though. Mini-series, short series, Part and Catalogues, whatver. That is by far the superior format for consumption of TV shows of such genres as drama, crime, investigative content - which is most of what I watch.

I don't think we had more diversity.....we just had less of everything.

Just for Series...
Last few weeks I watched: The Boys S3, Obi-wan, Umbrella Academy S3, Stranger things S4, Only Murders in the building S2, Terminal List (which sucks), Peaky Blinders S6, The Orville S3, Ms Marvel.....

There's Sandman this week, Locke & Key and I am Groot next week, She-Hulk and House of Dragons in 2 weeks, Andors and Rings of power a little later......won't probably watch all of them, probably forget a bunch too.

We're in the middle of the freaking summer.

Not so long ago. there was nothing on TV in the summer. Only sports caught my attention. Maybe one or two B-series but now, we're being bombarded, especially in the last 3 years.....that many shows just makes them all less specials, it's a lot harder to stand out in the pack....not sure if a series like 24 or Prison Break would be consider anything special if they would get out today.

I'd be like your colleague. I'm mainly attracted to all those types of movies and TV shows. I think the last non-superhero show I watched was Only Murders in the Building. I watched Season 1, loved it (but I'm a big fan of Steve Martin and Martin Short). Season 2 is out every Thursday now, but I'm waiting for the 10-episode season to finish before I start watching it. I don't want to start, get caught up, and then sit and wait a week before the next episode is out.

For the MCU, I've been a big fan of their TV shows so far. From WandaVision all the way to Ms. Marvel. Oscar Isaac in Moon Knight was amazing. I was in awe of the way he was seamlessly going from one personality to the other in a moment's notice.

That's great but man...it'll be almost 3 years by the time it comes out..
These shows and their long down times....
I agree three years is too long but the show did get canceled when Cinemax stopped original scripted programming for all shows. Good news is HBO Max picked it up but bad news is this may really be the end as WB and HBO Max is stopping their original scripted programing also.

I’m a big MCU fan also, but I am getting a little tired right now. My issue though isn’t the volume of shows and movies but the tie-ins are either not clear or it’s just a big mess. I don’t mind standalone arcs but either I’m just really slow or they are simply doing a poor execution of the Multiverse Saga in terms of connecting it.

On the topic of Marvel, I just came back to the hotel after doing Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind at Epcot. Wow! Easily the best coaster experience at Disneyworld.

So, what did you all think of The Orville season 3?

I thought they lost some of the magic from the first two seasons, and it was more about relationships and moral issues, like Bortus and Klyden and the controversy over their son/daughter Topa. Isaac and his quest for humanity while trying to gain back the trust of his shipmates.

It wasn't bad, but I'm a bit disappointed. There was a lot more action and space battles, with plenty of lazers.

I don't know how many know about this, but there is a way (finally) to access decent chunk of BBC 1st and 2rd/3rd party content. It didn't blow me away, but I'm not the right judge here since I got access to all of BBC otherwise.

Someone, take a look and let us know if this could be worth ten bucks. Hopefully they'll ramp up soon, but UK content rights are even more f***ed up than Canadian once, so I'm going to wait and see.

...watched Lightyear with the grandkids yesterday...meh...even the kids (soon-to-be 8 & just-turned 5) weren't really into it and they LOVE the Toy Story movies...the new Minions, on the other hand, was a pretty good laugh, even for us old cranky types...:thumbu:

...and yes, it's pretty f**kin' sad that I see more kids movies/shows than I do ones I wanna see now...
