I'm for big moves, so I agree with you.
Florida just got lucky.
you say that like Tkachuk was coming out of high school.

What are you talking about? They got their guy and paid a heavy price for him, one many considered too high at the time.

1) They won the trade by a mile … Calgary just got “what they could” other than nothing.

2) guys like tkachuk don’t come up often …. so that was lucky

3) I’ll note - tkachuk wasn’t demanding to be traded to the leafs.

How the heck did you infer that? The new GM may love Nylander and not want to pay Marner.
If it’s Hunter who drafted him after Babcock wanted Hanifin at the draft and after all the years in London with Mitch, that’s his boy. Willy doesn’t play defense and Marner is a Selke finalist. Pretty easy to me which way they would go

That guy is probably full of shit. Hard to believe the Hunters are on the radar for this org.

For being the Mecca of hockey and one of the most storied franchise in NHL history, the complete lack of direction is troubling. They can wait all summer for all i care, but it goes to show to their inability to understand their situation and make the right decisions moving forward, it is very clear they don't know what they are doing. One would think if they had their shit together they'd be moving on it already, especially with probably the most important off season of this group right here right now. You can't tell me they didn't have an idea what they wanted to do when they went down 3-0 to Florida, or even before the playoffs.

Something sure is wrong. Apparently Shanny wanted Dubas re-signed last summer but was vetoed. Hasnt been around really since

Here's da funniest part of it .. his neighbor to north who also has a brand new house on a big lot too is a guy I played junior with in Sudbury .. he is da biggest Habs fan in city (rented a plane and flew over 10 of us back and forth from Vegas for semis where his Habs beat Vegas) .. I take him to all Leafs Habs games in TO .. da last game this year was da best when he ripped off his Gallagher jersey .. anywho his wife loves loves loves LP unless she just says that to her neighbours .. i am pretty sure I will get da scoop next month at my annual hockey pool party
I've had a day at work, most stress I've had at work in ages and my brain's fried so maybe I'm missing something, who is LP?

Only thing that comes to my mind ATM is Les Paul but I figure that's not it.

Shanny was around during season quite a bit .. but it was ODD not to see him once during playoffs .. very strange no one saw him .. he is not a guy who sits in 1 seat and watches a game .. he moves around a ton

Personally, I have a feeling that Kyle was tendered an extension but was given a directive to fire Sheldon Keefe.

Whether you like Kyle or not, he is a very good GM, and he is incredibly well sought after. If he submits to the board's demands by signing his extension with the pretense that he will fire his Coach, then he knows from this day forward he wears the success or failure of this team solely. If he chooses to walk away, he will have a GM job in hockey the very second that an appealing option becomes available. Whereas, lets pretend he resigns, fires Sheldon, and they fail once again in the post season. His desirability league wide may not be as high in a years time should he get relieved of his duties. He may not have the choice on where he wants to land thereafter.

I know Kyle is a polarizing figure for 50% of our board, but he is a very good GM. Some may not like hearing this, but he really does hold all the cards. He can all but choose where and when he wants to work at this point. He has not only proven himself as capable GM, but also a guy who develops a culture where players want to sign and play. Argue all we want about if his philosophies work on developing a Stanley Cup winning team, but there is no doubt this guy can put together a very good roster worthy of that conversation.

Wil be an interesting week or so

I would say 99% sure that Keefe is gone regardless and I don't have a single ounce of insider information. It's not much of a leap.
THe only way Keefe stays is Dubas stays and sells that with a different core, Keefe will succeed.

Even if Dubas stays, they can't give Keefe another shot. I would be shocked. They gave him a lot of chances from different assistant coaches and players in various forms over the last few years. It's just time to move on. Keefe has been very good in the regular season but he doesn't seem to be able to outcoach and get the most out of his players at the time we need it the most. Maybe he will somewhere else. It's just a very natural progression to change the coach at this stage.

Boston did it with Cassidy. He was a good coach... he just wasn't able to make them great.

if Dubas stays so will Keefe, they are attached at the hip
