Mark/Dale Hunter, are you serious? That’s a step back.

Go get Eric Tulsky.
They are actually more qualified than Dubas and Keefe were when they started. Can't say they will be good but a management purge might not be a bad thing if they are both out, regardless of who is chosen

Take it with a grain of salt like always

I wanted Hunter over Dubas, but does anyone really think the ownership group would admit hiring Dubas over Hunter was a mistake and decide run it back? inconceivable, plus I say Hunters says FU, Hunter brothers have no need for this, but boy would the fall out be fun.................

I understand all of that I'm just not sure I buy it. The timing of it especially - and the fact he's been so devoted to the core he was willing to bet it all on them. Not his exact words but close. How many times have we heard how much the core "cares deeply". He also thinks Keefe will be a future coaching legend. Perhaps too emotionally invested to make the changes needed and he seems like a guy who would stick his neck out for his coach.
Let’s all imagine how this would fly in Montreal.

He also has his word. If Shanny wants Willy out, Dubas now has to reneg that he will be on this team as long as he is GM...if he stays.

I'm with you. When Dubas mentioned family I was asking people here WTF he's talking about. You have your dream job, you're making a ton of money and you think it's appropriate to whine to the media that you have job related stress? Gimmeafugginbreak.
Here's da funniest part of it .. his neighbor to north who also has a brand new house on a big lot too is a guy I played junior with in Sudbury .. he is da biggest Habs fan in city (rented a plane and flew over 10 of us back and forth from Vegas for semis where his Habs beat Vegas) .. I take him to all Leafs Habs games in TO .. da last game this year was da best when he ripped off his Gallagher jersey .. anywho his wife loves loves loves LP unless she just says that to her neighbours .. i am pretty sure I will get da scoop next month at my annual hockey pool party

He's had all year considering the contract situation, they should have moved on immediately after his PC if it's true that it was a total curveball. I forget who said it but one of the "insiders" suggested brass offered him a deal last year and he bet on himself and wanted to wait, so it seems he's been the twig in the spoke this whole time.

This whole affair is looking more and more like this organization is a disorganized mess and no one runs the show or can agree on anything. It's a god damn joke now.

Take the day of or day after the PC, but today should have been the day for finality because there's already not enough time to move in a new GM to properly assess everything necessary for the draft, free agency, and trades.

We need to make moves. In a week.
Give Dubas this weekend. Monday at 8AM
Either start working to better the Leafs or ciao ciao!

Meanwhile MLSE better be in multiple talks with competent GMs to replace him and have pre set plans and deals for our big 4 and idea on who the new coach is.

This everyone is friends approach is a Effing Joke. This woke crap has gone too far even in the manliest of sports lmao.

Dubas told Willy he wasn't going to trade him that season. There were lots of rumours that once Nylander signed long-term, he'd be flipped quickly. That was the verbal promise. It was not a no-trade clause until the end of time.
his words were, "He’s a player that we see as being a fit with our team for the long-term future. The whole time I’m here until they kick me out one day, William is a part of the group"
Seems pretty concrete

semantics, he was told he wouldn't be traded, was it for the season, the length of the contract, who knows. You don't give verbals, you put pen to paper. He wasn't even entitled to that promise as per the NHLPA..........

I mean it's a local radio interview from before Nylander signed the extension. He's already pushed back against the idea that he wouldn't trade Nylander multiple times in the years since, referencing that he was only giving Willy assurances in that short-term. I think it's insane to think that would prevent him from moving Nylander in 2023.
