I mean it's a local radio interview from before Nylander signed the extension. He's already pushed back against the idea that he wouldn't trade Nylander multiple times in the years since, referencing that he was only giving Willy assurances in that short-term. I think it's insane to think that would prevent him from moving Nylander in 2023.
I think there's a few things Dubas has said that he'd love to take back

Nothing prevents him from moving him, unless he made private assurances and values his word.

Ship Matthews to Chicago for their pick then ship Marner to the yotes for Clayton Keller. Knies-Bedard-Keller. Then Tavares-Nylander-Robertson. And you've cleaned up 21 million in cap and Keller gets 8 of that. Bedard would be on ELC. Plus all the players out like Kerfoot's 3.5 million and Holl's 2 million. Leaves tons of money for a real good 3rd line center with some jam. And still tons of money left for a big D man minute muncher. Then go after Gallant or Quenville to coach.

That will sure increase the Leafs jam:laugh:

How do you arrogantly hire a coach without interviewing a single other person. Then tell the fanbase and the world they are wrong and said Keefe will be a legend here, and then go ahead and fire him?

it's not that weird for the parent club to promote their AHL coach. Dubas told the fanbase they are wrong and Keefe will be a legend? I really don't remember that

I don't think trying Keefe was worthy of criticisms. Sticking with him would be tho

I would say 99% sure that Keefe is gone regardless and I don't have a single ounce of insider information. It's not much of a leap.
One of the things Dubas might be struggling with that is giving him stress is that he is aware that if he returns it might already be mandated that he fire and replace his pal Keefe.

Pure speculation on my part but firing ones best friend is not an easy task nor enjoyable one.

Bedard plays with grit. Knies plays with grit and Keller is a Tkachuk clone. So go away.
Bedard 5'10" 185 lbs vs Matthews 6'3" 208 lbs
Keller is no Tkachuk clone. Smaller than Marner
98 hits in 442 games vs Marner 276 hits in 507 games. He isnt even more physical than Marner so give it a rest.

Chicago says no thank you

How do you say you bet everything on this core, how many times, and then say you are willing to break it up ??

There is exactly one player in the world Chicago moves that pick for, and that player ain't Auston Matthews.

It would be a hoot.
That part and the part where everyone realizes that it wouldnt be Marner that is out:hit:
It would be Nylander if they were inclined to move anyone.
Hunter has history with Marner, you would be right. Might even see Domi come here.

If it was a permanent verbal no trade why do Matthews and Marner get NMCs but Nylander only gets a 10 team NTC? Seems like something you’d only do if you wanted to keep the trade option open.

Oh boy if this is true now all the pro Dubas will be against Hunter and vice versa. There is no peace in Leaf land
That is worth its weight in gold. The Hunter brothers would be enough to get my blood flowing for the next season. They might even get me to like Marner again. We will see for sure.

I think you sing the praises of your players, stick up for them... right up until the day you move them. We had to give these kids time to grow, and learn how to win... But they haven't, so at least one has to go now, and even Dubas admitted at the season ending presser, it was time.

Frankly, I'd love to find a way to move two... and I'd move Marner and Tavares... but I just don't know how we'd move Tavares, nor do I really have a clue if we'd get anything of value back given his cap hit.
I didn't altogether get that same impression. A GM shouldn't really ever commit to guaranteeing that they will or won't make changes of practically any variety. As such, any possibility should be under consideration/on the table, though I won't personally be anticipating that major trade, or a firing of Keefe, until that particular piece of news breaks.

Blackhawks aren’t trading the 1st overall for Matthews
