Frustrating team to watch and that is putting it mildly. Great game against Boston and then they offer up this underwhelming piece of shite performance to start yet again. What is it going to take to get this group to buy in for sixty minutes?

In baseball, hitters go on hitting slumps.

This Maple Leafs team is on a major goal scoring slump for those players making less than $7,000,000 per year. No one is scoring other than the expensive players.

Have to admit, the last time I remember seeing this was when the Leafs were like last in the league, lol.

:rolly:
True

from that entire bottom six, I expect Spezza to bounce back. That’s it. Makes me wonder if something like

Bunting- Matthews - Kase
Engvall - Tavares - Marner
ritchie - Kerfoot - Nylander
kampf - Spezza - Simmonds
Pray mikheyev gets back and replaces Ritchie cuz yuck

expect
AM - 45G - 40A - 85P
MM - 25G - 65A - 90P
JT - 35G - 45A - 80P
WN - 30G - 30A - 60P

maybe adds three scoring lines??? Idk cuz rn the depth is a concern. It’ll become a huge issue if it stays like this

Did anybody on the Leafs scout Ritchie last year? He’s the laziest, slowest Leaf player I’ve seen...and that includes Jason Allison and Jack Valiquette

You didn't need to bring Jack into this. As lazy as he was he put up 40+ points. I doubt Ritchie can do that

Jason Allison was an all Star at one point. He was slow but not lazy

Makings of a loss. Had our chances though. 2 changes. Get Holl in for Dermott. Get Ritchie out

What problem would Holl solve? The slow-ass D got walked twice for the first two goals. I'm not a huge fan of Keefe or Dermott but Muzzin's play has fallen off a cliff and is sliding into the ocean, while Brodie's struggling too (just to a lesser extent). Same with the LW problem - you can shuffle around Bunting, Kerfoot, Engvall and Ritchie all you want, but there's just no top line LW there.

Can people please stop calling these losers “The Big 4”?

Like honestly what have any of them ever won to deserve being called that? Please don’t mention Matthews asterisk Rocket in a horrendous division either. Win some rounds then maybe we’ll talk about “the big 4”

Other than their overinflated contracts there is nothing “big” about them.

maybe 'the big 4 cap hits'

We did have a lot of prime chances we failed to bury - felt more like a 3 goal performance than a 1 goal performance.

A few bad moments defensively in this one. Muzzin did not look good on that Athanasiu goal, and both Lily and Sandin weren’t good on the Moore goal.

Overall, we got outplayed, but not as badly as the score would suggest.

Man joey Andersen should have played for richie..like could have added that bro rivalry and definitely performed better than richie lol

If this loss is Richies fault (even if he is the suckiest sucker that ever sucked) we are in big trouble. We should be able to win even if we took a random nobody from the stands and switched with one of the no impact depth players.

Matthews is not happy out there. Lots of mental errors. He's either ****** off at himself or he's livid that Marner has been taken away form him. I'd guess the latter...
He was pretty meh when he was with Mitch earlier.

While I don't think he's pouting because he's away from Marner, I'd be lying if I said it was out of the realm of possibility. Bab's wouldn't give him top ice time, JT got the C while other young studs on other teams got/are getting it, and now one of the best playmakers in the league has been "taken" away from him.

I really hope that's not the case. I'm still holding out hope he's just overthinking things due to the wrist and he gets back to form eventually.

If you can dump Ritchie I would sign Ho-Sang and shake up the bottom 6 for next game.

Bunting-Matthews-Nylander
Kerfoot-Tavares-Marner
Semyenov-Kampf-Kase
Anderson-Spezza-Ho-Sang
Engvall-Simmonds

Such a Leafs fan thing to do in blaming Ritchie. He's stunk, no doubt, but there's over $40 million on the top 2 lines who barely produced tonight. Ritchie makes Holl type of money, not Marner, Matthews, Nylander and Tavares type money.

Not a great game, they played well in spurts but lacked sharpness, and looked surprised at the speed and vigour that the Kings came at them with.

They had zero puck luck and the officiating didn’t help but that’s the way it goes. So glad Danault is no longer a Hab.

Just move on, don’t let it become a slide.

Why do we struggle so bad against trap teams

Its called being outworked - Its the NHL Work is required every night .... Lack of Maturity ... Coach should never give this team a day off ... I am sure they sat around Sunday playing Vid games - watching football and telling each other how good they are ... Keefe Should whip these guys everyday !!
