Why didn't you post during the 5 game streak? We know the intentions of users who do only come during bad times. They are not actually fans. Be worried everytime they do well my friends.
I’ve been posting every year the leafs have not won a playoff round, 17 straight years and counting.

Under normal circusmtances i.e. when we were rebuilding I am fine with players learning. But since we seem to be in a win-now mode somethings gotta give.

Seems more like re-tool mode, not really a win-now mode.

The Leafs have to be a contender to be in a win-now mode, which they are not.

The bleeding has stopped, that's all we can say.

It is not going up and not going down right now.

What we see is what we get.

Contender?!?! We can't even win the series against habs last year

This is a very fragile group. They are 1 more loss away from going back into another 18 wheeler off the cliff. Next game is a must win.

True story. My nephew said to me 2 minutes into this game "this looks like a game where the Leafs fail to show up & lose". He was right....

Lack of scoring depth is a fundamental problem with this team. You don't get the big results from the top guns, there are not many options. The middle tier players that get you 40-50pts serve an unheralded purpose. In a game like this, they might give you a goal or two to get you back in the game. Guys like Engvall, Kase, Kampf & Bunting work hard but end up not producing most nights. The 5 million plus that Dubas spent on Kerfoot & Ritchie could have been used better.

This team literally has no secondary scoring.

Even Bunting is meh offensively.

Scoring will be a problem for this team.

Scoring will not be a problem for the four highest paid forwards, but the rest of the forwards will struggle mightily to score.

The current Leafs team is very easy to defend against.

They break out the same way, which is methodical allowing the other team to get organized to defend.

Then the Leafs won't fore-check.

If there is any sustained pressure by the Leafs in the offensive zone, usually it is always on the perimeter, and they can generate a shot, but no rebounds, because no one is in front of the net.

Half the goals scored in the league are garbage goals. Management and the coach do not believe in that, they insist on proving their methods.

Very dull hockey game tonight.

Do people expect us to never lose a game?

Fans should expect a 5 on 5 goal for cripes sake.

How many 5 on 5 goals has the team scored the last three games?

2, both by the same player.

How many 5 on 5 goals did this Leafs team score against Columbus two playoffs ago? Wasn't it 3 goals 5 on 5 in those 5 games?

Now that the whole league had two years to figure out how to play this Leafs roster, unfortunately it seems we will be watching a lot of dull low scoring games.

That’s the thing people have to put into context. Of the 7 leaf wins, 6 I repeat 6 have come against teams that are currently not in a playoff spot. There schedule has been extremely favourable, and still have a mediocre record of 7-5-1. The leafs are not making the playoffs for 2 reasons, 1) they don’t have a reliable back up goalie. How did dubas think injury prone mrazek would be a good choice. Ridiculous mismanagement. 2) zero depth scoring. The core 4 of scored the last 13 leaf goals, not sustainable. Be worried my friends.

Actually I still think they will make the playoffs.

They could actually win a round like that blind squirrel finding a nut. Then get bounced.

If this team cannot make the playoffs, probably a complete house cleaning in management including Shanahan brain.

Just cant let this turn into a slump. Losses happen, move on and rebound on Wednesday

Did anyone play well tonight?

Offensively, Spezza, Simmonds, Tavares.
Defensively, no :-(

Pretty lame effort overall. Wonder if the team talked about this being a big game for Jack, so a little added pressue, and we got the playoff edition?

Anyway, poor goaltending, poor defending off the rush and poor finishing.

I've seen them play a lot worse and win. Zero sleep lost. Lets see what they bring in Philly on Wednesday.

In baseball, hitters go on hitting slumps.

This Maple Leafs team is on a major goal scoring slump for those players making less than $7,000,000 per year. No one is scoring other than the expensive players.

Have to admit, the last time I remember seeing this was when the Leafs were like last in the league, lol.

I would bet the Leafs score more goals within 5 feet of the net than the average team. The majority of our goals is probably greasy goals like that. I have no idea what you're watching, the netfront stuff is the only part of our offensive game I like. The big guns forgetting how to make a pass every 4th game is a much bigger problem offensively.
