Csn you elaborate? Because this sounds stupid

I've watched about 7 periods total so far and they look like the same bums as last year.
Not to get too esoteric but I don't even get mad anymore like I used to. I can sit here and rage at Nylander (my favourite leaf ftr) for still half assing it a little at best when chasing puck carriers in like his 10th season but I see myself and the rest of society these days and almost everyone got mad issues too and ain't on top of their lives yk what I mean

The second unit looked much better than the first on the PP at the end of the second. Maybe why Nylander was back on the top unit in the third.

Marner was the best Leafs player in the first period, and Nylander was in the third. Nobody was in the second.

The Leafs are pretty much the exact same team (same traits, etc) as last year except with better goaltending so far bc of Stolarz and the media (and fans bc of media’s coverage) praise the coach non stop bc he’s their buddy.

But nothing has actually changed. A talented team that is on and off. Auston and Mitch still run the show and do what they want and dictate that the team functions so they can maximize their point totals. They get a pass and the coach flexes his muscle on the fringe players.

Ignore the fact that the coach has a new name and therefore the media tells you how great and different he is, but nothing has changed.

I can't stand Matthews' lackadaisical play until the last 5 minutes of the game every night. He's also been fumbling the puck and making shitty passes all over the place. Wake up kid, we need you.

The boys wanted this one and I appreciate the pushback.

Also shout out to this site for being basically unusable on mobile - what the hell is with these ads? I have loved my many years here but I am teetering on leaving.
I use Brave for this Forum.

Gets rid of the pop ups and makes the forum usable.

Doesn’t do anything to prevent the stupid trade proposals, the Leafs non-existent power play, and the delusional takes on certain players, but gets rid of the pop ups……. :)

Benoit looks like a doppleganger of my buddy Colin (RIP).

That's not a good thing. Colin was an intravenous drug user who smashed needles into his arm until the day he died. Surprisingly that's not what killed him.

His girlfriend stabbing him was.

Kinda like how it feels like this team stabs me in the heart watching them some nights. The Leafs just got their asses handed to them in every way possible. They got beaten and beaten up.

This was an opportunity to redeem themselves against their coaches former team.

Another wasted opportunity for the most embarrassing franchise in the dumbest sports league in the world. Especially galling considering pundits were saying things would be different this year. Yes all the pundits who made that prediction are ex-players with brain damage.

But anyone who actually isn't brain dead can see for themselves this team looks the same.

Because Marner must get his super contract at all costs. His play sucks even though he has points at the teams expense. I can't believe that it isn't universally understood that this is happening, especially at a place like HFBoards.

The guy would fire 1000 corsi perimeter shots if he could. Even if his shooting .001%, his team in negotiations will say well, you just didn't have the right people playing in front of the net.

It's hilarious and sickening at the same time
I just want Matthews to get more shots on net then Marner every game, because of obvious reasons.

Yes, I’m sure the Leafs losing is “kinda like” getting stabbed to death.

What a f***ed up post.

This Hockey team Joe, The Maple Leafs? They’re a great Hockey team. A very great team. Joe, You wouldn’t believe it. 40 Million in forwards Joe and they have the worst Power Play in the league. And they have this Arizona player, Amazing player, great family, I know his dad, Great man. This Arizona player, a 69 Goal scorer last season. Shoots it like I have never seen. Power play is still garbage.

Post of the threat, priceless……….

I'm starting to question whether the 4 x 11mil+ forwards is the way to go.
You think??????

Anyone that thinks Marner was the best player on the Leafs tonight is smoking some heavy crack.

Too many forced passes to nowhere.
Too many giveaways.
Matthews was dogshit as well.
The Marnerites don’t care if the team wins or loses, they just want Mitchie to look good, I didn’t think he was particularly good in this game, certainly not 11.5 million good……….

Can't move out the players on the PP though, unless they want to be traded.
But they can decide not to resign two of them………

Berube is quickly figuring it out that we don’t have the attitude or players to play his game

Holmberg kampf Robertson jarnkrok all vanilla players
Not physical enough and no hockey IQ among them
When half the cap to four forwards, the supporting cast will be subpar, hasn’t anyone else figured this out yet………..

Nylander was invisible tn with the exception of one rush where he got a PP call.
He got a couple of goals last game, he can ride on that achievement for a couple of games, he’ll never live up to that contract……..

There are some that have this weird obsession that everything is Marner vs Nylander. Really weird.
Classic example of confession thru projection right here folks……….

I thought he was good tonight.

I think he's coming back. But for how much?
I don't want him back for any amount only because I don't think he can eventually transition into what the team needs on the third line, but I think he will sign a cheaper version of the Tanev contract. Maybe 6 years/$20 million, or something like that.

The Montreal Canadians have six more powerplay goals than us through 12 games played. The Sens have nine more PP goals.

With our overall offensive talent, we should have anywhere from about 5 to 10 more PP goals at this point.

How many points has our powerplay already cost us?

2 crap games. 1 good game. Rinse and repeat.
Their effort level and results are so inconsistent it’s difficult to know how they’ll perform period to period, game to game. Nylander and Matthews coasted for huge parts of this game. Berube has not gotten through to most of these guys about consistency and being pros.

They have 10 games imo (US Thanksgiving) to become what they will be.

Again, both are true!!
In the past, Thanksgiving has been a marker of who gets into the playoffs, but with late starts to the season and compact schedules, it’s not as accurate as it once was, but it’s still a noteworthy point of the season.
One thing I’m keeping an eye on is if Ottawa passes the Leafs this year. Feels like both have surpassed Boston.

I'm actually surprised that anyone thinks otherwise at this point. Neither of them are leaving.
Looks that way, but it’s too early to make that decision. Both have been playing well and they might be the two best forwards so far this year.

Bottom six still not that strong. The core four needs to spread over three lines. Simple. You're welcome.
That hurts the top 6. Swim a little and tread water when needed until Jarnkrok, Dewar, and maybe Minten return and give that a go for 10-15 games.

Looks like we have washed Matthews this year

The powerplay is so comically bad I don't even know what to do anymore
Start by having them line up at the boards with half the team on one side the other half on the other and practice quick, hard passes, like we did in Mites and Atom. When they master that skill, graduate to Pee-Wee and add skating and moving around, but still pass it as hard and quick as possible.

Pick the five best and that’s PP1. Might be the first PP that employs the back-up goalie, but it at least it won’t fall to 33rd in the NHL.

Not much to discuss for this one. The intention was for the Leafs to lose. If you bet on SPORTS you're an idiot.
FIFY.
