Woll is putrid. This guy is NOT an NHL caliber goalie.

Will Matthews even score 25 goals this season? He looks absolutely tuned out.

Throw Reaves in front of the net and tell him to make life miserable for the goalie. ala big buff

Tavares has been waiting in front for years on the PP. The puck never seems to get there. It’s always on the side wall or the point. Side wall to the point. Side wall to the point.

Meh. Looked like they were going to cave them in in the first. Bit unlucky in the second and it was just enough to lose. I thought Colby had a good point in intermission, might have been a case of trying too hard and not just keeping it simple.

PP just brutal. Too good to not hit at some point, but jesus.

I dunno this goes back to last year like February, its been bad since. Cant all be Savvy's fault.

This was our PP numbers in games vs FLA, BOS, TB last regular season...

1 - 5 vs FLA
0 - 2 vs TB
0 - 2 vs BOS
0 - 3 vs TB
0 - 6 vs FLA
0 - 1 vs BOS
0 - 4 vs BOS
1 - 4 vs BOS
0 - 3 vs FLA
1 - 4 vs TB
1 - 5 vs FLA
0 - 3 vs TB

4 FOR 42

Then we get absolutely shutdown in the playoffs on the PP by Boston and now this stretch to start this regular season.

This is just totally unacceptable when you're spending so much money on top flight offensive players.

Oops. Added a tiny bit of pressure for Coach Craig's homecoming, and boom. A game in November somehow becomes a mountain too high to climb, despite walking through the first unscathed. No finish on 2 or 3 high quality chances, then they grip the sticks and lose the fight in the game for the rest of the night, outright

Just like MTL ripping us in preseason and losing the payback game in game 1.

Just like every time Tavares got shamed back on the island with this core.

Just like nearly every time in OT.

Or with an empty net, which we rarely if evver have the juice to either score on, or defend our own..

And of course - the ultimate show of core cowardice - our Game Sevens.

This core, man. So much skill - so little will.

It is. They gotta figure it out. I believe they will, they can't not, it's illogical. Maybe Savard's best move is to stop trying anything and tell them to just go do whatever the hell they want on the PP, go full pond hockey, screw any system or plans. Go do you, PP.

Didn't like rewarding Woll with the Blues start either. Just seems bizarre to me that this guy has so many injury issues and can't play for the team but is 2/2 and 100% in starts vs his hometown over the past 10 days.

I don’t think many of us actually think either is leaving and that’s the frustration. We have more then enough evidence this mix is not a serious winning group
I've said time and again that I wouldn't bring Tavares back, but guessing leafs management thinks otherwise.

This team is basically built to play the Seattle Kraken on a weeknight and put together 110% redemption efforts vs other contenders but generally not serious about winning.

Tavares is hit and miss and largely mediocre, but I think we have an Auston Matthews level problem this season. Highest paid player in the game basically giving you low end 1st line center minutes, unreliable two way play and just double clutching on special teams.

For some reason this statement is being pushed aside while the Marner threads are being doubled down on. Matthews is the highest paid player in the league right now. He's taking up 15% of our cap space.

Woll stopped ALOT of point blank shots in the 3rd. He kept us within 1.
The difference between Woll and Stolarz is the shitty goal that costs you games. That third goal should never go in. I can’t recall a soft goal allowed by Stolarz. I’m not pinning the loss on Woll, but he has a huge weakness that he needs to address. He allows point shots to go in too many times.

The spotlight needs to be on captain Matthews before Marner. Matthews got a pay raise and the captaincy and cannot hide behind Marner bashing when he’s failing to deliver. Great power comes with great responsibility etc. and this is just not good enough.
