Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. when have we ever had a season where they cancel games, remove players, close the leagues ?
Talk about a whole new incarnation of reality TV. If things were getting dry as the years went on (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and so on...) then yeah I can see how complacency was becoming an issue. How else could they boost ratings? Hmmm... seems like they figured it out, no? A whole new dose of reality injected into all sports and not just sports but into everything
I'll bet ratings are destroying anything we've ever seen. Maybe not just on TV, but factor in all the website clicks, radio tune-ins and everything else and we have a whole new world of reality sports that we've never seen before. "Hey, tune in tomorrow's game to see which players can't play! But first, a message from our sponsor... "
I can click a youtube video which is apparently going to scare me straight to death with "BREAKING:" news on the next virus that's going to wipe us out... but before the video starts.. we have to watch a commercial on Corn Flakes...
The money being made from this thing is unprecedented and never before seen. Me simply typing out this message is contributing to this mess and is inevitably generating revenue for someone, so I am as guilty as anyone else for prolonging this. Trillions of dollars are circulating from all of this lol. This is a monolith business that didn't exist 2 years ago and now look. Money that was locked up in government and corporate accounts is now released and flowing into the bank accounts of those who are becoming millionaires and billionaires... I swear I feel like I'm the only one who can see this.. am I the only one with 0% fear? Still? Even after the announcement that we can all drop in to the freaking liquor store to grab a rapid test?
the only scary thing about any of this is that "they" can run this gig for as long as they like, and not a single one of us can do anything about it

While it is possible that tonight's game is postponed I'm more worried about tomorrow because that's in Seattle which means they have to cross the border

Depends on team, Ottawa was 10 players with Covid and a coach, and 5 or 6 injured players.

When I lived in BC I liked early starts to baseball because by end of game there was still day left.
Not as good in Alberta, but still better than taking your entire night.
And when I don't have to get up at 5:00 AM anymore I'll watch other late games and still get a decent night's sleep.

So Tavares, Kerfoot, Spezza and Simmonds out of the game happens tonight. Marner and Sandin hurt. Seney apparently hurt as well

Kressler would have been an interesting call-up but Flint also got hit hard with a COVID spread and have suspended their games for awhile. I'd call up whoever is cleared to play. Sign Clune, Douglas or Blandisi if you have to.
The NHL should just bring back taxi squads for the foreseeable future. Shut down the league for a week or two, bring back taxi squads, give teams a couple days to fill out taxi squads and to practice. Resume games.

The Marlies have also been hit by Covid so calling up from them probably isn't much of an option right now.

I mean they called up Steeves and Dahlstrom. As long as they test negative it should be fine.
I assume we'll hear about call-ups or whatever shortly.
I still have my old gears. I can be ready in 30 mins
It'd gonna be tough dressing a Leafs team tonight. Almost a guaranteed loss
But will be fun to see some players getting opportunities

But do they even have a clear protocol on testing like let’s make sure everyone is confirmed negative by 6:30 pm before puck drop? Been hearing cases of guys getting pulled out of games and that just seems insane. You’d think having gone through the bubble system in such disciplined fashion they’d have a better sense of players statuses before they can play. Teams infecting other teams is just a nightmare.

We are definitely playing shorthanded tonight. NHL in all their infinite wisdom isn't giving teams cap relief for players in covid protocol.

We have over 6M in cap space with Marner on LTIR. That's not the issue.
If there are players that test negative on the Marlies and can travel in time (if not already travelling?), they'll be in.
But yes, sounds it's going to be a weird lineup. With Dahlstrom and Biega already up, it's possible one of them plays forward and the Leafs go 11F-7D if no one else is up.

Play Holl at forward, he likes being up by the other net when the puck is headed towards the Leafs zone anyway.
