We as torontonians will play EVERY GAME AND STILL WIN!

They won't be cancelling nothing now, since we got some. That would not even look good.

Also, why are there not any fake/failed positive tests anymore? There was so many during the early season. Larkin etc. etc. Even larkin got pulled during the game and it was false. He played the next game, period.

With the Flames game being cancelled, I was thinking JT was the perfect captain to keep the boys in check until Saturday's game. Never anticipated him being infected first. Oh well, let's hope they are asymptomatic and they keep if from spreading through the rest of the team.

I don’t know if they should or not. I think most people are double vaccinated so we shouldn’t have any bad effects if we get it we’re told. The people that aren’t vaccinated shouldn’t be there anyways, so that shouldn’t be an issue. I personally hope they continue to play because that’s supposed to be why we all got vaccinated, return to normal.

Oh sorry, I meant the game between Toronto vs Edmonton. Just the players since Edmonton was exposed to another team that was exposed to covid. I fully want the season to continue and arenas to be open, at least in some capacity. But as a league, when you know the Oilers players just played against a team that was exposed to covid, why not just postpone this game.

I think they should just do what the nfl is starting to do and let asymptomatic vaccinated players play.

Regardless of whether or not anyone would consider this - the NHL is in a uniquely shit position with this - because of the border. US teams coming to Canada and vice versa, positive tests asymptomatic or not and whether they're eligible to play isn't even really the bigger logistics concern with that plan.

Also very little chance that the Canadian government allows teams to put COVID positive players on the ice in buildings with fans.

I’m a little confused as to the relevance to the game?
If the Leafs and other NHL teams are travelling around North America collecting COVID and brining it home, that's not a good thing.

If any team has a COVID outbreak, then everyone on the team should be treated as a close contact and isolated until the incubation period has passed. Then, when the incubation period is over and the team is COVID-free, resume play with other clean, uninfected teams.

I understand and respect your position, but I still don't think that's a very good idea.

Turning a blind eye to this will not make it go away.

Try as we might, I think we still have to try to manage this better.

That's true. Didn't consider the border aspect of this.

Yes definitely agree there, if you know there’s exposure there should be no unnecessary risk for the players

McLeod and Shore tested positive earlier this week. Not sure if anybody else on the Oilers tested positive since.

if true why is the league letting oilers play then? my mental health is already pretty effed up last 2 years staying at home and not doing much. Now if they take away Leafs I am not sure what else to do really.

Covid is literally taking physical and mental toll on people

Players with underlying health conditions (ex: Domi with diabetes) will have to be protected just in case; I have a feeling there is a hockey freeze coming soon.

Bottom line. Money (can't refund TV money). As long as a team can ice most of their players, they will play. Unless cities can't keep it in check, they may have to go back to empty stadiums. If they close the border again, they'll need to get exemptions or they might have to bring back the Northern division (LOL). Leafs can then sleep walk their way into the playoffs.

I'm not sure what a league shut down achieves this time and I'm not sure how many times we can do the league wide shut down.

Covid has been around almost 2 years it's not going anywhere at some point Sports are going to have to move forward because again it's not going anywhere

The vaccines don't stop transmission. It reduces viral load, by about half the time. And you should experience less severe symptoms. Positive test pre-vaccination shouldn't be looked at the same way as now. probably a good thing to get covid now after being vaxxed, so you can develop natural immun*ty
