Keefer did mention that Clifford had just played his best two games since rejoining the Leafs; I would have to agree. Especially vs EDM he was noticable; unsure if that is his good play of just the suck of the Oil players. Wondering if he would keep Clifford in and maybe take out an Engvall? Clifford on LW4 and Ritchie on LW3 maybe?

tbh Clifford's play should put Ritchie's job in serious danger - unless Ritchie can start scoring again. But if all Ritchie is 4th line muscle, then Clifford can do that job while not being a defensive liability, and for much cheaper, and can stay in the pressbox until needed.

unless something changes going forward, ditching Ritchie does seem to be the only logical move.

Losing Engvall to keep Ritchie would be a move that I would actually have to criticize my boy dubey for.

Well there goes 2/3rds of our second line with Mitch already out as well

A game that looked very winnable is pretty tough now

Shut'er down. Not only is it going to get out of control even further than it has, but the competitive integrity of these games are now becoming compromised with teams missing out on high end talent along with the depth of talent.

According to the release - the tests were done yesterday and results received this morning, more testing will be done today. I expect there will be more positives when those results come back unfortunately just with how crazy this thing seems to be spreading. Crossing fingers and hoping for the best.

With Kerfoot out too, it's the whole second line right now.

So we run with ???
Bunting Matthews Kase
Engvall Nylander Mikheyev
Ritchie Kampf Steeves?
Clifford Spezza Simmonds

Ouch

With the cancelled practice too will be hard to know what the line ups look like.

Do we just swap in Ritchie and Spezza for Kerfoot and Tavares?

Bunting Matthews Kase
Ritchie Spezza Nylander
mikheyev kampf Engvall
Clifford Steeves Simmonds

We are gonna have to make a call up. gonna get interesting? Otherwise we move Nylander to center.

Yeah saw this coming. The Edmonton game should've been cancelled, bush league stuff by the NHL as usual. Hopefully everyone stays healthy and doesn't have any serious side-effects.

Well if this is played….. nylander and Mathews are gonna have to either go Mcdrai with each other or carry their own lines

I’d say the latter and go with
Bunting - Matthews - Simmonds
Kase - Nylander - Ritchie
Engvall - Kampf - Mikheyev
Clifford - Spezza - Seney

Sadly was only a matter of time. I don't think it's going to get any better. If the league was smart, they would shut down and I have believed that for some time now. That game in Edmonton shouldn't have happened.

This isn't an argument to not shut down - and not trying to be doom and gloom, but the idea that they shut down and come back in January seems like a small fix that is guaranteed to get busted open once they get going again. The variant seemingly is spreading extremely, extremely fast. The hope is its mild of course, but regardless of the severity - I don't think cases are going to come down in January, they're only going to go up.

I don't have a solution to it - I don't know what the answer is, but it just f***ing sucks.

How long do vaccinated players have to stay in protocol after testing positive? Is it a set number of days or just need like 2 negative tests? Because it should be 2 negative tests.

One of my favourite times of the year. The classic 4pm west coast start time. Love that time slot. I hate being inconvenienced.

We've been relatively lucky up till now with COVID

Knew playing Edmonton would f*** us over

Oh boy, here we go.

As enjoyable as the win vs Edmonton was, I thought it was an unnecessary risk to play that game.

Let's hope this doesn't spiral out of control.

An uninfected team plays an infected team, and boom -- three days later both teams are infected.

Carolina infects Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver.

Edmonton infects Toronto.

Next victim, please!

Either that, or just shut every COVID-infected team down to prevent further transmission. That has my vote.

Shut down the teams that have recently played the COVID-infected teams, too, until, the incubation period for each team has passed and the whole team is in the clear.

That way, there might be a fighting chance of finishing a full season.

The way it's going now is short-sighted and foolish.

3,100+ cases in Ontario today, folks. Double that of last Friday, and probably half of that of next Friday.

Read it and weep.

I don’t know if they should or not. I think most people are double vaccinated so we shouldn’t have any bad effects if we get it we’re told. The people that aren’t vaccinated shouldn’t be there anyways, so that shouldn’t be an issue. I personally hope they continue to play because that’s supposed to be why we all got vaccinated, return to normal.
