If they can clean up some problem areas, they might be a legit contender.
Holl needs to get back to simple. He starting to go rogue. Willy needs to stop thinking about point droughts and focus on a game that isnt run and gun.
Muzzin is a bit of a tire fire.
These guys are failing at gap control
Third line just cant stay in the pocket...to borrow a qb term.
Keefe needs to continue fiddling with non performing players and let them watch the game from the bench longer.

Looks like all it took for us to be successful was to repeatedly face the same 6 teams similar to the original 6 era .
Dubas definitely has some work to do because not winning the Canadian division will be a disaster for him and us. The only way he can get away with it is if McDavid gets like 20 points in a 7 game series against us. I also wouldn't count Montreal out, despite looking like the better team in the 4 games, we could have realistically won all 4 if we didnt blow last Saturday

I think there is some credence to the argument that we wouldn't be doing nearly as well if we weren't in the Canadian division. The occasional system and defensive lapses we saw today would have had us down by 2 or 3 against some other teams.
Players recognize that that's no bueno, but the real test comes if we get far enough to play a top team from another division.

We'll see. This division sucks. I would've loved to see them go up against Boston or Tampa.

As hot as we've been, the Oilers are only 6 points back, although we have a game in hand. This division is far from settled, and every game being a 4 pointer can turn things in a hurry. Yes we've had some defensive scares, but that is a work in progress. Washington took years to figure it out. Same with Tampa. Overall have to like how things are going. Can't wait to get Simmonds back in the winger mix. If Tavares and willie can get going, man we could be lethal. Gotta keep the pedal to the metal!

Why does a goal count after the the first review and then not count after the second review? It's the NHL.

Actually it made perfect sense how that played out. The system worked perfectly. The first review was because they had to check if it crossed the line. That made the call on the ice a goal so it was up to Keefe to then contest the goalie interference. They reviewed and he was right. What more can we ask than that?

I honestly with Price could sort things out. One of my favourite players. Always wished somehow the Leafs could acquire him.

The fact that no one has picked up on this is astonishing. The first “review” was clearly just to get anything obvious out of the way e.g, puck across the line, obvious kick, etc.
It was rather obvious based on how the ref said “the call on the ice is a good goal”
