In term of what? Physicality? I employ you to go look at the umberger hit. If your talking offensively then I disagree. Brian Campbell is a very good puck mover

He means that Ghost is more like Erik Karlsson than Brian Campbell. He is aggressive in that, he's willing to rush the puck end to end or spin-O-rama around a forechecker. He can also make tape to tape breakout passes as well.

I understand but I still think that those terms are nonsense and that's proven every year by players out playing what their perceived ceiling/potential was and not achieving what their floor is perceived to be

Sure, people are often wrong about everything in life, but that doesn't render the whole process of trying to get it right invalid. You can't tell me that you'd think it's wrong to say some scrub grinder struggling to crack the AHL from the ECHL doesn't have (NHL) scoring line upside or that Crosby coming out didn't clearly have, at the very least, the floor of being a top 6 forward (barring injury).

I've been following Ghost for several years, even before the Flyers drafted him. I'm as high as anyone about him. I think he is a future #1 or #2 Dman. There are few dmen in the league that have his offensive ability.

He was simply much better than all other dmen in the NCAA. He reminds me of Letang but with a better head on his shoulders. Might be a U.S. Olympian by 2018.

In a good or bad way?

Both really. Offensively Ghost plays more like Karlsson. I am not saying he will ever reach that level, but when I watch the two play, that is who he reminds me of. Campbell is a better defensive player than I think Ghost will ever be, or at least during Campbell's prime.

I agree with all of this to a point. Ghost is a much more probing and aggressive offensive player than Campbell, who's a silky smooth puck mover. Campbell's a soft player (though he's laid some big ones in the open ice) but I think his overall defensive play was underrated in his prime. It was an uphill struggle to get Ruff's respect but it turned him into a pretty sound positional player who could cover a lot of ice. Ghost could wind up good defensively at the next level but I wouldn't bank on it. Still, I'd love to see the kid really be something at the next level, because he's a hell of a lot of fun to watch and has an A+ name.

I like all of your prospects, but I think you're fanboying too hard.

Again...potential.

Morin was taken at 11th overall BECAUSE Philly sees #1 potential.

Ghost has an offensive upside that few prospects have AND he can play D. The offense that he has the POTENTIAL to get to, could make him a #1.

Sanheim rose up the ranks like a rocket near the end of the season. He looks to be the most complete guy of the bunch(offensively and defensively). This year we are expecting a big jump from him as he takes over the#1 D spot on his team. Just like Ho-Sang and Kapenen have the POTENTIAL to be 1st line players, Sanheim has the potential to be a #1.

Will they? Slim chance as they are all on the same team. But one thing that's good is that they are all different. Morin of a beast of a kid. Ghost is an offensive dynamo. Sanheim is well rounded.

Put it this way, at forward, Philly fans have Laughton...then the rest. And none view Laughton as having 1st line POTENTIAL. But with these 3 D, they COULD. At least there is finally a few guys who have the POTENTIAL to be one.

I see him like Letang as well. Great offensively, ok defensively. I just hope Ghost keeps shooting on the PP. Letang is so bad on the PP and I can't figure out why. It's like when he has too much time and has to think, he messes up. Yet when he plays with instinct, he is fine.

Ghost=Letang
Morin=Myers...but mean
Sanheim=Keith
Hagg=Oduya

one can dream.

Morin is nothing like Myers. Myers is basically an offensive D-man. They're both just big. Oleksiak os much more similar to Myers

Well I has having trouble thinking of a comparison for Morin and figured I would get crushed for saying Chara or Pronger...lol. This is a bug year offensive wise for Morin...to see if he has that next level that he can get to.

I think if Myers had Morin's meanness, he would be a legit #1.

Morin reminds me of a better skating version of Derian Hatcher.

I agree. The thing I think that's holding Myers back is aggression and hockey sense. He's still a legit #2 IMO.

As for Morin, a better skating Hatcher is a good shout. He's Hatcher with more tools.

at the beginning of camp id say 0 percent shot to start in the nhl.

Now im at 20 percent.

I feel the same way. I can't tell if it is because Ghost is just so damn good or our NHL defenseman are just so bad. Maybe both.

That's what training camp is all about... players winning roster spots.

I think Philly management's plan from day 1 is for him to play AHL but if he keeps doing what hes doing, they wont need to cut him and they have an unexpected unreal young player in their lineup that has a real small cap hit.

Plus I strongly feel there is a reason why in the 2 preseason games he's dressed in so far, Philly's PP has been UNREAL... 7 goals on 12 attempts total (3 for 5 and 4 for 7).... I know that's not all because of him but it's a huge part of it!!!.... Now i'm finding myself constantly checking his stats each game he plays and really obsessing over this player haha

I cannot wait until this team gets rid of Grossmann finally. Schenn too if he doesn't look better this year.

any chances he sticks with the team or are we more likely to see him if there are injuries?

Berube has a disgusting attachment to Grossmann, so we'll see. My instinct says no, but I would like to be wrong.

As another Flyers poster put it, Grossmann is defending nonstop because his non-existent skills with the puck help keep the puck trapped in his own end. Ghost should be defending less because he moves the puck up ice quickly. But, Berube sure does love his 90s-era defensemen.

He's Pronger light. He's got the toughness(plays with an edge to him), the offensive ability in the transition game, shot is hard. He's a better skater but Pronger was unbelievable at reading the play. Morin will need seasoning and time to reach Prongers ability to think the game through at both ends of the ice (if he ever can). That being said he looks like he may have the tools this kid could be an all star. Ghost and Morin could be a pairing that lasts 10-15 years in Philly if the organization has the patience to let them develop and accept the bumps that are going to be on the road (happen with every dman)
