Best dman in college hockey.

Even though he didn't register a point in the two east regional wins over Vermont and Providence, he was still named part of the all tourney team.

Had this great defensive sequence in a pivotal moment in today's game:

His accolades so far in his career:

2011-2012
-ECAC all rookie team

2012-2013
-2nd team CCM All-American
-ECAC 2nd team all league
-Member of USA WJC gold championship team

2013-2014
-Hobey Baker finalist (only dman)
-Presumably 1st team all american
-Co-MVP of ECAC
-Best defensive dman ECAC
-1st team all league
-ECAC tourney 1st team
-East regional 1st team

One of the best skaters in the nation, is great at stretch passes, and has an absolute bomb from the point. His size will be a concern (5'11 170 lbs or so), but he is extremely talented and has improved his defensive play a ton since he was drafted.
You can add:

All Frozen Four team, 2014 NCAA DI champion, Frozen Four MVP, 1st team East All American to his resume.

That video doesn't even include that sick sliding play he made in their offense zone to prevent a 2v0 going the other way.

The dude is crazy, I can't wait to see him play in Philly.

I was at the game last night. Was very impressed with this kid. His lateral skating is amazing. I'm not sure who he compares to, but he looks like a sure-fire NHL player.

I really like him a lot earlier this year and I thought he had the potential to be a good top 4. But as the season progressed and he only got better my expectations are starting to get much higher. I firmly believe he could be a solid #1 defenseman if everything goes well.

I don't know about a #1, that's incredibly lofty. Could see him being a good #3 option and 1st unit pp qb. He plays the game similarly to Erik Karlsson. Obviously, he's not Erik Karlsson, but there are quite a lot of similarities in their games. Shayne has a bit more of an edge to his game though.

Very excited about his future nonetheless.

Personally, he reminds me of Cam Fowler. Kevin Shattenkirk would be another decent comp.

Flyers fans may want to be cautious...

http://blog.timesunion.com/hockey/union-hockey-star-undecided-on-signing-with-nhl/17784/

Gostisbehere was asked if he might have more financial leverage in leaving now, rather than waiting until after his senior year.

“I guess you could look at it like that,†he said. “But when you graduate, you can pick a different team sometimes, so both ways.â€

Yea, we've been discussing it on the Flyers board all afternoon. It's not a super encouraging comment, though accurate.

The only saving grace for the Flyers is that with the Union graduations, there is even less incentives for Ghost to return to school than there was Johnny Hockey. We'll see soon enough.

Although it does worry me. I really don't see why he would not sign with the Flyers.
-Union has a ton of seniors leaving
-There is a limit to the contract and right now the Flyers would sign him to a max term deal
-The Flyers can guarantee him NHL playing time if necessary

Ghost was awesome... but he stills needs a lot of work to be a 1 or 2. Not sure if that is achievable.

He definitely needs to improve his slap shot accuracy. In the final, he missed the net over and over.

He definitely came into that game very amped and was shooting the puck harder and more inaccurately than he has all season. Having watching a dozen or so of Union's games this season, his shot is generally much, much more accurate and probably a few MPH lower.

To be a 1 or 2, Ghost definitely needs to improve. No question about that. He's come a long way defensively with his stick work and ability to read plays, but if he wants to even be Duncan Keith-lite, then he needs to consistently be excellent in his own end. Let's remember, Duncan Keith wasn't even Duncan Keith when he first came up, but has continually defined his game at both ends. Who knows whether Ghost can get to that kind of level, but he has a lot of tools that you can't teach.

Very impressed with this kid's growth over the last few years. Should have a solid rookie NHL season next year.

I was thinking the same during the game (that it was nerves), but I have not seen enough of him. Regardless, he missed the net so many times that it is noteworthy. In the 3rd period he missed the night by about 10 feet and I'm sure he was settled by then.

I'm not trying to burst his bubble at all. I'm a Flyers fan and was thrilled with his OUTSTANDING performance.

On many occasions he was simply firing wide so his shots did not get blocked. I am not worried about his Shot accuracy.
