He is 5th in the NHL in PPG for Dmen. He is also 6th in goals for Dmen, yet played 17-19 less games than everyone above him.

He is 2nd in goals/game behind only Burns who is a forward/dman hybrid.

Not to take anything away from Ghost but Burns has been strictly defense all of this year and last year. Still insane what Ghost is doing and I really want to see him replicate it again next year to prove that he's legitimate.

Yeah I mean Gostisbehere has definitely showed elite goals this season but that really isn't one of them. I agree it takes a lot of skill to create shooting lanes like he does but that goal is all on Luongo and I doubt he had the thought in his mind to shoot glove side because that is Lu's weakness. Still a legitimate star in the NHL and he did impressive work on that play but any other night I imagine Lu stops that.
Although it was hard to see, the puck hit Barkov's stick before Lu missed it. Great play by Ghost nonetheless, with the game on the line. That point could end up being huge, as could the one they blew by not scoring on the OT PP and losing the shootout.

I never meant it in a bad way for Burns. All I meant is that he can play both, and can also "think" like a forward...which tends to be about more offense. Would love to have a Burns type player for sure.

As for Ghost doing it again, he has already surpassed what most Flyer fans expected. We hoped for a 50 point dman who could play on our 2nd pairing. He has already done that and more.

I expect him to keep the 1st PP spot next year which will keep giving him offensive opportunities. Provorov should slide into the #2 unit and be a mainstay on the PK. It will be funny to see people complain about Provorov next year when his points are lower than expected due to usage. But he will be relied upon to anchor our D in the future.

Then when Sanheim is ready, who knows what happens. Maybe Sanheim becomes a bigger version of Ghost and replaces him on the #1 unit. Who knows. But having those 3 guys for the PP units AND having them at ES to push the offense will really help the forwards. They are all creative, can skate and can pass. And who knows, we could have it set up where one is on the ice at all times!

He hits this one off the post, but man, what a play! Only select few in the NHL can pull that off.

I had never heard of him before this season.

Was he considered a top prospect prior to this season starting? Just curious.

He was really good in college, but the hype died down a little when he only played 7 games last year because of injury.

Before this year he was valued similarly to Provorov, Sanheim, and Morin among Flyers fans. I think the majority of the fan base had him 4th, but we knew he had tons of potential. He's exceeded my expectations pretty greatly. I feel like he was pretty well known around the NHL though, he had a great college career.

I had him 4th in our prospect rankings before the season started.

1. Provorov
2. Sanheim
3. Konecny
4. Gostisbehere
5. Morin

I admit that he's also greatly exceeded my expectations. I had him pegged as a 2nd pairing PP specialist, maybe a #4 guy, but he looks like a legit top pairing offensive defenseman at this point.

He's graduated. Not only has he lost rookie eligibility (while being nominated for the Calder), he passed the 65 game threshold 2 games ago.
