It better not be a Victor Mete situation...Can't wait til he pots one
Dipsy Dolittle.
His possession isn't amounting to much and he's taking himself out of position far too often.
Definitely over exposed and certainly over rated at this point in his career.
We cant afford a top 4 dman playing at a -40 pace.
I'm not surprised I suggested it might be an issue coming in to this season.
People fell in love with his 2 points last season while completely ignoring his -2 in two games.

He creates a lot of space, but the rest of the team isn't there yet. What I haven't liked are his really bad pinches, especially during a tied game or a 1 goal game. He's been the direct cause of points in the standings. The other thing is he's looked tired lately. It's all part of the learning process.
I’ll take poor Makar.Would you rather have a rich man's Victor Mete, or a poor man's Cale Makar. Those are the important questions I ask myself.
It seems that Lane is second on the team in points share, meaning he's contributed second most to our points. Not sure the methodology that is used, but it's similar to WAR. Our isolated negative observations disguise his overall very positive contributions to points.

You're not entirely wrong, and teams have learned to adapt to him better where after he gets passed the forechecker, the play never really ends up going anywhere. Yes, the lack of talent on the team makes it a lot worse to create chances, but it's not as effective as it was at the start of the season.Dipsy Dolittle.

As others have mentioned, the cute plays in the defensive zone and awful pinches during key moments of the game are getting too frequent as well.
That being said, he's been one of the few bright spots on the team. The skating criticism seems to be complete nonsense. While he isn't perfect defensively, he's not getting caved in every shift. He seems incredibly overworked which makes sense but 40 points as a rookie dman is a very impressive debut. He's way too skilled, smart, and dynamic to be covered by the other team.
Giving up the blue line would be a huge advantage for us. We need to exploit that.I think you will see less opposing teams challenge him at the opposing blueline.... and elect to stay back a bit and just try to contain him rather than check him.
It's happening already.
