Dipsy Dolittle.
His possession isn't amounting to much and he's taking himself out of position far too often.
Definitely over exposed and certainly over rated at this point in his career.
We cant afford a top 4 dman playing at a -40 pace.
I'm not surprised I suggested it might be an issue coming in to this season.
People fell in love with his 2 points last season while completely ignoring his -2 in two games.

He creates a lot of space, but the rest of the team isn't there yet. What I haven't liked are his really bad pinches, especially during a tied game or a 1 goal game. He's been the direct cause of points in the standings. The other thing is he's looked tired lately. It's all part of the learning process.

It seems that Lane is second on the team in points share, meaning he's contributed second most to our points. Not sure the methodology that is used, but it's similar to WAR. Our isolated negative observations disguise his overall very positive contributions to points.

This corresponds to the eye test. He's done more good. However, I find he's taken some very unnecessary risks lately that have ended up in goals against.

He’s doing fine right now. He’s a pup. And if you noticed, he’s more composed, less ADHD with the puck than he was earlier one. Kid is learning.

What his teammates aren’t learning yet is to cover him when he jumps in the O-zone. Dunno if they don’t pay attention or they are doing it purposefully, but I’ve seen it happen often where he jumps in the play deep in the zone and not one forward takes is place at the line. That is disturbing.

You're not entirely wrong, and teams have learned to adapt to him better where after he gets passed the forechecker, the play never really ends up going anywhere. Yes, the lack of talent on the team makes it a lot worse to create chances, but it's not as effective as it was at the start of the season.

As others have mentioned, the cute plays in the defensive zone and awful pinches during key moments of the game are getting too frequent as well.

That being said, he's been one of the few bright spots on the team. The skating criticism seems to be complete nonsense. While he isn't perfect defensively, he's not getting caved in every shift. He seems incredibly overworked which makes sense but 40 points as a rookie dman is a very impressive debut. He's way too skilled, smart, and dynamic to be covered by the other team.

There will be bumps. He’s playing crazy minutes. I can easily see it getting pretty rough at some point. Hopefully not but this is a massive step.

I can also see fans 180ing on him because we’re a special bunch and all. I think whatever adapting other teams can do to Hutson, he’ll ultimately manage. Our team themselves are gonna have to help in that regard too though. But that should be coming from the coach.

I think you will see less opposing teams challenge him at the opposing blueline.... and elect to stay back a bit and just try to contain him rather than check him.

It's happening already.
