He played 38 games last year in the NCAA to which you can add the WJC if you want.

It's not even December and he's already at 20, while playing way too many minutes with too much responsibilities.
Right on. These College kids need to adapt to pro hockey at AHL level. Struble broke last season after January. And Hutson does not have the physical attributes of Struble.

Teams are adapting to him, and Saint-Louis plays him way too much.
Dipsy Dolittle.
His possession isn't amounting to much and he's taking himself out of position far too often.
Definitely over exposed and certainly over rated at this point in his career.
We cant afford a top 4 dman playing at a -40 pace.
I'm not surprised I suggested it might be an issue coming in to this season.
People fell in love with his 2 points last season while completely ignoring his -2 in two games.

That's the problem with Lane, people love his flashy style, but condone his obvious weaknesses. And add to that the fact that opposing teams are adapting to his ice ballet, the fact that Marty the genius is overusing him, and even with a normal workload the tear and wear was predictable in a long NHL season with such a small D that always give 100% on the ice. I am not trying to hit him down, I like him, but the coach sees himself way too much in him. Small, very talented at some parts of the offensive game, character guy, big effort all the time. Again, MSL sees himself a lot in him, and by some kind of narcissic transfer he plays him way too much.

Still learning how to play D at the NHL level, which is to be expected. Him getting top pairing TOI or thereabouts is on the coaches and to a degree on the GM for the construction of the squad.

He needs to do more simple stuff more often when he's on the puck, like throw the puck on net and see what happens quite a bit more.

Mind you, so do our bloody forwards.

Finally, people are starting to see this kid for what he is. The hype surrounding him was too much. I hope he doesn't become another Mete because they rushed him.

One bad game where all the team played like shit and he's now the next Mete!!! I'm more worried about the lack of offence from the entire roster than i am about Hutson. Suzuki play is putrid since the season started. Same for Caufield who thankfully, was riding a unstainable shooting % at the begining of the year. Those 2 guys have regressed hard from last season and they should be your core for off. production.

OMG - he is neither Mete nor the second coming of ORR. He is something in between.

I think he needs to pick when to join the attack better, but he usually seems to be back fast enough to fix his mistakes. His D style is not traditional but smart reads of the play with a good stick seem to be serving him well.

I think what is most telling about whether he is nhl ready or not is that they put him on the first power play yesterday, and everything that happened went through him. I get that there is always a "general" on the powerplay, but usually Suzuki takes on a lot of that usually with Matheson. It kind of reminds me of Markov, in that regard.

Yeah god forbid he made a bad pinch in a game where our forwards had 10 shots and are generating absolutely nothing when he made the pinch lol I think he gets a pass , actually the entire D corp gets a pass individually for me , the past few games they have been covering their men fine , the forwards are completely lost in all 3 zones.

D has to generate all the offence + the breakouts , I've never seen such lack of structure in my life , nobody outside of Suzi or Caufield can generate chances from down low individually

Yep there's 3 players generating offense Gallagher, Caufield and Suzuki and whoever play with them gets points but all other players looked bad while not on a line with those 3,

Slaf is on a 56 point pace right now and has only started to warm up from his cold start. The momentum is shifting, don't let them bully you into into second guessing yourself.

These players aren't as fragile as we think.

But even veteran players who have played for years get tired later in the year.

Playing 3-4 games per week against men for 6 weeks straight after never playing 3 games a week against boys in the ncaa.
There are grown ass men in the NCAA too

Going to trademark the nickname MeteOrr for Hutson.
