i don't mean to stifle conversation here but are we just going to repeat the wE nEeD ToUgHnEsS mantra every day until october? i know, we do, it's bad, but this shit's getting kinda tired

We could have John Rambo, Solid Snake, and the ghost of General Patton playing for us and people would still be crying about more toughness. Makes you wonder what they’re compensating for in their personal lives.

It was also embarrassing when other captains won it.

Like MacKinnon, Barkov, St. Louis, Datsyuk, Gretzky, Sakic etc.
I don’t care that other good players have gotten that reward.

Would you love to win the smallest shlong competition yet again?

I don’t think everything is worth celebrating. Winning the softest player of the season award is not a good look.

Measured in microns.

I dont understand why anyone would want to win that award. An indicator of a lack of intensity

BLuc’s overpaid league of international gentlemen leaves no room for team toughness under the cap. You can’t inject a couple of tweener hard nose players into the bottom six and expect the world. Especially when your toughest everyday players are Kempe and Durzi.

God bless Danault, Gavrikov and Mikey. But it’s too much money for too low a ceiling. They get the minutes and money of Richards, Mitchell and Scuderi. But their press billings don’t add up to results on the ice for the Kings. Another instance of Rob Blake’s futility when it comes to aping success.

I dont think anyone is compensating for anything. I just think people are sick of seeing their team play a placid game.

I think some people are so used to seeing this team bend over that they think playing hard is asking for lube first and push back is the return bump.

I wonder if Chuck Norris can skate.

I still think BLuc are incompetent fools and ruining the organization. But i'm at the point of turning the page on the PLD trade and ready to jump on his bandwagon. I hope as heck that he has finally found his home. Maybe he needed some love and a big contract to feel supported -- and now that he has it, he's ready to take his game to the next level or two and be a leader, compete at all times, top 1C guy in the league, etc. Be the guy who takes 1C from Kopi (in a good way) and is that franchise center for the Kings the next 7-8 years.

I feel the same way.

The Kings had no choice but to make this trade. They already missed out on a trade for a true #1 C two years before ,and it was a big gamble that another player with even a chance of being a 1C was going to be available on the market in the next two years of the Kings contending window. And the odds of QB being a 1C are less than even money at this point, you just can’t take that chance when you are committed to winning in a small window around guys in their mid to late 30’s.

You just can’t win with what the Kings C situation was before this trade. You can trade for or develop guys like Vilardi, Iafallo and Durzi a lot easier than you can develop a fringe 1C/2C. We as Kings fans should know this all to well.

Btw some comedy for you all. According to everyone’s favorite muted poster, when Blake said on lottery night 2020

“This pick greatly accelerates the rebuild”

He really meant he was going to acquire 2 veteran centers for $14m in cap space and 4 assets and relegate said C pick to winger for the foreseeable future.

“Not compensating for anything I swear.”

I watched a ton of Pavel Datsyuk, he was one of the best all around players of all-time. He certainly played the game with a lot of intensity over 200 ft. As did Ron Francis and ROR.

You don’t need to knock everyone’s head off to be intense

Well Datsyuk also had no issue with putting Shea Weber in his place.

You can play with grit and edge while also not taking many penalties. Kopitar is soft as hell and has never intentionally thrown a real hit his whole career.

I wouldn’t compare Datsyuk with the likes of Kopitar. Kopitar shoes zero backbone. Datsyuk did.

Oh f***.....Kopitar is soft.......Jesus Christ.....there's about 300 NHL players who would disagree with you even in private rooms....I'm beginning to think you really don't know what tough means....
