Clarke is 6’1 and getting near 200 lbs. He’s not big but small isn’t right either.
I know I’m a pedantic arse… and I agree another big body or two would be nice.

When my ‘mates’ acted bigger because I was with them I’d punch them myself. More than once I told the bouncer to let me deal with it… it’s probably not supposed to work that way though
I think he will 6’3 and 205 lbs during this year with possible 215-220 lbs in next few years.

Clarke is far from small - and he has a nasty edge to him. I think this enforcer/toughness stuff is getting way blown out of proportion. Fighting majors are down across the board and it's more about the entire team playing tough. However, adding bigger guys like PLD and Englund and others will help even things out a bit.

I would rather add a Lappy type than a true goon.
OK I like Tkachuk was super effective because he was playing 20 minutes a game and not five minutes.
There are a few of these players left in the league. Good old Keith spawned two of them
I agree with the toughness is a team concept. But you need those guys that causes Burke that allow the other guys to get swept up in the emotion of it. Kind of a mob, mentality comparison.
We know Kopitar is not that guy and I’m not gonna hold it against him. But if that’s who you want leading the team, then you have to surround him with guys that are willing to take charge on the ice when the games get rough and I think that is something we lack.
PLD, Danault and Kempe are all skilled type players that will bring a little of that, and as much as a rag on Lizotte being our forth line Center, the only reason is because of his size and not how he plays. With the way, the top of our team is constructed, I do want those bottom guys being a little bit bigger, tougher, and having the ability to agitate, and do some enforcement. But I am satisfied with Lappy players and I’m not looking for that scud missile to send out to try and chase down the other teams big guy.
I see Mikey Anderson growing physically each and every year and hope he starts getting a little ornery.
Byfield showed a few times last year that he was willing to throw a big hit or stand up for himself. That was a guy down 15 pounds from normal I know he’s not going out looking for trouble but add 20 pounds to that body and a little more confidence and we might see him step up a bit even if it’s just in scrums or throwing the odd big hit.
A joked out of the side of my mouth that quick was the toughest guy on the team for years. The guy never fart was never really out there throwing hits, but what he did do was compete fiercely and not back down from confrontation. That’s the concept. the team Hass to play to be tough in my mind.

I like Grundo he’s streaky and scores and doesn’t take shitty penalties. I think something big and nasty is gonna have to come from within.
Guys like reeves and Lucic are boat anchors. So many dude with stone hands that are great skaters and in good condition. You figure more of them would do us their career on being feared checkers and shadows on defense. Seems like a 2 million dollar roll guys who become AHL regulars would be better served carving out.
