Wonder how his wife is doing now that he got himself unemployed. What a dummy.
The multi millionaire? I'm sure he's doing better than you

It is weird how Shanny and Dubas are communicating on Dubas extension through emails instead of phone calls or in person.
I really don't think the President and CEO of MLSE plays much of a factor in GMs of the Leafs. More to do with President of Leafs and President of Raptors.Managed to sign Masai Ujiri
Thats true. You want documentation. They probably do speak but it is confirmed using email.
Totally agree, think it's definitely the latter. He seemed like a nervous mess, like Dubas did, and he doesn't have a clue how to right the Titanic and the icebergs are about to make contact. The important elements at play here are:
- Shanahan initially deciding Dubas "did enough" to be extended.
- Dubas' family dramatics definitely come off as a power play due to circling back with a rumoured ransom demand after being offered to stay. I believe it's true to some extent, but he used that as an excuse/leverage to shelter himself from a potentially unfavourable outcome (i.e. i'm stepping away, not fired).
- Shanahan was not ready for this outcome and is scrambling. Seemed like a rambling mess fumbling with his water bottle while narrating some very odd timeline of events. This is not his preferred outcome.
I think there's two possibilities at play. Either Shanahan became aware of a more suitable replacement that came out of left field (a la Lou Lam situation), or this was a rushed decision that fell apart due to contract demands despite wanting the person back, and not a calculated decision, which does not inspire confidence. Have a feeling it's the latter.
Kyper said that people at MLSEL told Dubas not to trade for Murray because he could not be counted on. Dubas was smarter and ignored them. Good riddance idiot.Having no plan is better than a Dubas plan.
Who cares about Matthews and Marner's feelings? They can get f***ed.

for all we know his family could have been receiving death threats. The Toronto market is like a circus with all the media hysteria. I don’t blame him for going to a team like Pittsburgh - if in fact that’s where he winds up.If his wife would do that she ain't the one.
But then again, if that were true it would make sense that he'd pick his wife like he picks his players
I think this it's about trust.. Shanahan thought a deal was generally in place. Dubas told him he wanted the job before the season started, then at the deadline. Shanahan went to get approval for a new contract with that information. Shanahan thought he and the agent for Dubas had a contract in place. Then Dubas dragged his feet at the eleventh hour, went to the media, aired his dirty laundry, and became wish washy. Shanahan's perspective on Dubas changed, rightfully so, and he decided it's not the type of business he wanted to be in.For this to be about Kyle asking for money, and Shanahan moving on instead of saying no is asinine on Shanahans part.
All the work they've done the past 5 years over some money. Everyone looking dumb here.
Clown behavior from Dubas, great decision from Shanny.
With that being said I think Dubas is a good GM and will succeed wherever he goes, but you just cannot pull that shit and then be brought back.
He may have to shift the decimal place over when negotiating with AHL clubs.Next team gonna love that development.
I wouldn't fault the new regime for wanting to observe the team with their own eyes before making any bold moves - provided that we don't lose leverage in terms of our ability to acquire assets in exchange for any of our core players that are not part of the plan moving forward. So when a new GM comes in, hires a new coach and they’re both in agreement they want to keep the Core 4 together and put in players around them they feel would work, how we feeling about that? This could be a possibility with new people in place.
Ok, sure. And? What does that tangibly accomplish? Is the perception of the board of directors winning hockey games? Did we get extra points in the standings because they ran a public opinion poll and MLSE is perceived as based and redpilled? The Leafs didn't look like cucks yesterday and they still f***ing lost. Are we still talking about hockey here? Because if this wasn't a hockey decision just what the f*** are we doing here boys
Because he knows they'll never fire him. The media worships anything he does. And look at his deadline last year. What a mess on that front too.
Single with no kids. Far from it. I've had more pressure/toll in life that he's had in his job paying him $2+m.Says the single person with no kids.
maybe his wife threatened divorce if he accepted the new contract. Who knows?
I strongly suspect that Dubas has other offers on the table in smaller media markets.

how many more years does shanny have? Does Shanny line that up with his deal? I wonder if the incoming GM will have questions about Shanny's future. That will for sure be in play
Due to their contracts, when a New GM and coach comes in with NO major change, they better get AM and Willie tied up instead of letting walk to UFA.I wouldn't fault the new regime for wanting to observe the team with their own eyes before making any bold moves - provided that we don't lose leverage in terms of our ability to acquire assets in exchange for any of our core players that are not part of the plan moving forward.
Sorry a lot of people wanted Masai fired for that because he's turning them into a treadmill team. Back to Kyle though, he has massive media worshipers for some odd reason.what does that have to do with anything
Simple. They work for the same owners.Sorry a lot of people wanted Masai fired for that because he's turning them into a treadmill team. Back to Kyle though, he has massive media worshipers for some odd reason.
Doubt he'd be interested.Anyone think we might be able to pry Toronto native David Poile out of his recent retirement?
I'd be down with that.
