So if a new GM comes in, hires a new coach and they’re both in agreement they want to keep the Core 4 together and put in players around them they feel would work, how we feeling about that? This could be a possibility with new people in place.

It's a new GM and new coach, I can live with that. I highly doubt whoever comes in will make no core changes, but assuming that's the case I'm ok with it. There's a different team philosophy and identity with a GM/Coaching change.

But lets be real, no GM is gonna come in to this situation and not do anything, Shanny and the owners obviously want change that's why Dubas' was let go. If they wanted a guy to just run it back again they would've re-signed Dubas.

I agree but there’s a possibility new faces come in under the mindset that it didn’t work because of “this” and it would work if we changed “this” around the star players.
Sure. That's why they get paid the big bucks. They asked me but I told them I was too busy

The new GM will absolutely change something and I’m very curious what that is with either trading a top guy or adding to them in a different way. Fun times

Other than Treliving, the other guy that comes to mind is Mike Gillis. What's he been doing lately?

I think the Leafs need to go outside the organization.

Wow, fate really loves irony. The thing that has plagued Dubas, negotiating, is the thing that does him in here. So gimmicky to use the family card to the media to negotiate. It’s clear he wanted to stay and just wanted more money/power. This guy is the manifestation of Nylander/Matthews/Marner and I’m sure that dawned on Shanahan when he watched Kyle in the presser. What happens next will be really interesting. But they need a guy who can negotiate.
That family thing did not sit well with me at at all and no organization worth it's salt would accommodate such nonsense. The Leafs would've looked like cucks had they bowed to Dubas' demands.

For this to be about Kyle asking for money, and Shanahan moving on instead of saying no is asinine on Shanahans part.

All the work they've done the past 5 years over some money. Everyone looking dumb here.
If the rumours are true that Dubas upped his price substantially at the 11th hour its right for the team to walk.

Thats not how a professional does business and you want your GM to be exactly that

Have you ever negotiated any kind of financial agreement, lying is usually the last thing you want to do, this isn't getting a job as a SCotUS and lying to a bunch of elected moronic egos.

Same here.

But at the end of the day, new information can make you form new opinions and change your mind. Seems like Shanahan was sincere in wanting him back to keep working on what they started but Dubas gave a lot of doubt to that on what he said publicly and made even bigger demands that they talked about, to the point where it wasn't even in the same ballpark they had talked about.

He's entitled to those demands, but Shanahan and the Leafs are entitled to also change their mind. It goes both ways. Dubas decided to go that route, presumably with advice from his agent and family, and unfortunately it didn't work out for him.

This.

Don't worry, Kyle. According to the geniuses on the main board, you won't be out of work very long.

For all those applauding Shanny for showing his nugs and standing up against Dubas' personal and contractual demands, do you understand that we have no plan at this point?

We have 6 weeks before Marner and Matthews NMC kicks in, and we don't even have a f***ing interim GM announced, nor do we have a single potential candidate to fill the role. Not to mention, we just let go of the GM who had a good relationship with every one of our players, including the most important piece of business this offseason (34).

Now Shanny is left to oversee a management group, coach and large amount of the roster that was all hired by Dubas. Almost all of which had nothing but good things to say about him.

I'm sure this will go swimmingly Shanny. I am so glad you got to show us how strong and alpha you are. Was totally worth it
Having no plan is better than a Dubas plan.

Who cares about Matthews and Marner's feelings? They can get f***ed.

For the record. I have absolutely no problem with Shanny deciding to move on from Kyle. If he felt like he wasn't the right guy for the job, then I can respect that. But he openly told everyone today that he felt comfortable extending Kyle at the TDL, and that continued to be the case at the end of the season. Yet, here we are today, without a GM. Without the GM that Brendon thought was the right guy for the job less then 5 days ago.

This was an emotional decision by Shanny. He has no Shanaplan at this point.

Probably BS.

The presser by Dubas was a hot mess. Disqualified him from the job on it's face.

What was on the table, who knows. Sometimes they say that sort of thing to not damage his reputation. I think that's what happened here.
