I'm not. They shut down the top scorers of the Sharks and Ducks, minus a couple of games both series. The Kings defense relies on a 5 man unit, not just the d-men. Like I said earlier, the Kings just went through two 7 game series against teams filled with fast, offensive players. The Hawks are built just like that.

I definitely agree, though I see what Black1963 is saying. I had the same thoughts earlier but I'd like to think the current d-core has proven they have what it takes to stuff teams who have tried to rip pages out of the Chicago Kings-whooping Instruction Manual TM. Sharks and Ducks are similar teams with their offensive depth and to some degree the game breakers. Gotta give them a chance to stick with it. If anything, we've closed the gap on Chicago's team speed imo, and I'd love to see what this looks like (game 1 nonwithstanding because dear god with the travel).

Kings might just sweep the hawks, they still win in 5 or 6 on their way to another Stanley Cup!!

Offensively, yes. Defensively, we've actually lost a step imo. I really think a guy like Bods along with Mitchell (assuming he's ready) would be an ideal upgrade over Schultz and Greene. We don't lose any toughness adding Bods and Mitchell, but gain a ton of mobility and improve our outlet passes immensely.

I would love nothing more than for Kopitar to make Toews his personal ***** this series. The Toews crowd is so insufferable.

Ugh, tell me about it.

IMHO, all we need to do is stay disciplined. 25% of the goals we have allowed in the playoffs so far have come from the other team on the power play. We stop taking stupid penalties and I think we can easily take this.

Hawks in 6. I have great respect for the Kings and Daryl, but to read most these comments on your site it seems the fan strategy is to beat the crap out if Toews, Kane and Keith. Really? That's all you got? Good luck with that. Fortunately for you and maybe unfortunately for us your team is way too smart and well coached for that. But if I'm wrong and you're right, then we dispatch the Kings in 4.

Be gone with you and take your cares with you Hawk lover!

This is a different Kings team than the one that faced the Hawks last year. Last year we limped into the third round off of Quick's back, our top guys invisible. This year the team is playing with a lot more confidence. Kopitar is freaking leading the play offs in points, Gaborik in goals. Quick has been a beast when the games matter. The key will be shutting down the likes of Toews, Kane, Hossa & Sharpe. So happy we don't have to play against Bolland this year. I like our offensive depth, if the D can hold their own, we got this. I'm feeling very optimistic heading into tomorrow.

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but I would like to see Bods in there for either Greene or Schultz. Sit both, if Mitchell's back. I like our offense, but the speed of the hawx makes me question our defense.

The Blackhawks have speed, which is why a player like Schultz/Mitchell is important. They can't match speed wise, so having a player with reach, particularly on the left side/right wing where Kane and Hossa will be, will help slow down the offense and take away space. Trying to match speed with speed is dangerous.

I'll be pretty pissed if Schultz is taken out instead of Greene. Schultz has been great.

If/when Mitchell is comes back, he will play left defense. That means Muzzin, Martinez, or Schultz is out. Pretty straightforward.

Either way, I am looking forward to this series. The Blackhawks are a great team, so I just hope the Kings can put up a fight, just like the last two series against good teams.

I don't know if it's dangerous to try and match speed with speed, but reach is something I haven't thought about, so, good point there.

There's no way Muzz or Martinez sits. Martinez plays on the right side as well, so, it'll either be Schultz or Greene. Martinez was playing on the right side with Mitchell before Mitchell got injured, so, it's possible, it'll be Greene, since VV is already playing with Schultz. That seems to be most logical.

I could have worded it better. The Hawks thrive on speed. By matching speed with speed, you'd be playing their game, which is dangerous. And the Kings defensive corps just isn't fast enough to keep up with them... so it's better to take the ice away with reach... particularly on that side of the ice.

That's true, but I think it was more because he had to as opposed to being the right fit. All things being equal, I think Sutter would prefer leftys on the left and righties on the right :)

Well the wild had the Hawks shelled on relying on Crawford to save their ass because the wild matched their speed and they were playing better. FWIW wild did good playing the speed game.

I didn't mean to imply that we play their style of game. I was merely talking about possible match ups, and I like the idea of having Bods in the game.

Well, that's just it, it wasn't because Sutter had to (although that's just my opinion). Martinez is simply the better option than Greene at this point. Wouldn't you agree?

Pretty amazing, we beat the fastest team in NHL. Just knowing that makes me feel more confident that we can handle the Hawks too if we play like this.

LOL, San Jose or Anaheim? Colorado is, without question, the fastest team in the NHL. Chicago is faster than either of the teams you played, but Colorado is even faster than us. Their team speed is ridiculous.

Anaheim has a really fast team.

If it makes you happy thinking that garbage, then go for it.

If the Hawks were smart they would put Toews line up against Kopi's. If not, Handzus will get eaten alive.

Handzus is still an effective in-zone player which is why he works on the PK. But if the games get up and down, and by that I'm talking offensive or defensive transition, he can't keep up. If these games somehow turn into track meets he is a HUGE liability. If Q's an idiot and put him on the 2nd line then it will be even worse (Kruger or Regin should be on the 2nd line with Zus on the 4th).

LOL, what? Ask any knowledgeable fan who has the fastest team in the NHL, let alone the Western conference and no one will say Anaheim. At best they are the 4th fastest team in the conference. You're insane.

Our defense is depleted right now, and I still think Quick is playing overly aggressive which can be exploited by the Hawks more so than any other team. This is why I think the Hawks have the upper hand.

Ask me if I care. Please just ask. You will be stunned by the answer.

But at the end of the day Anaheim is still fast and HF boards where poll results can change immensely over one game.

Hey now! I like visitors from other teams dropping in with a fresh perspective. Don't be chasing them away with crankiness! :cf: :nono:

:welcome: visitors.

Yes, even...Chicago Blackhawk fans. Heh heh. j/k
