That was really one of our better outings of the postseason, easily the best game we've played in a losing effort, better than some of our wins too I reckon. But, alas, Chicago won in what I'd consider to be a toss up.

We looked good, we looked to be on the Hawks' level. Keep the up the work ethic and positive vibes!

The Ducks fans said the exact same thing after losing game 1. The Kings fans conversely said "if that's the Ducks best effort and they still lost, they're in trouble", and Kings fans were right. What do you think Hawks fans are saying now?

The lack of discipline early doomed the Kings in Game 1 of this series. They don't have the luxury of not scoring the first goal and climbing back. The "perfect" Kings game is the start of game 7. Push the pace, draw a penalty or two, score first. That's the not-so-secret sauce for the Kings to win. That's how the Hawks won game 1.

Very few on our team dive and if they did the don't dive with a smile on their face.

I'm sure someone has said this but pretty much this is our elimination game. Hopefully we will come out on top. Honestly against Chicago we win we have a chance lose and series! Hate to say it! I hope I'm wrong! Chicago looks more and more confident as each series goes along!

I truly do look at that game as the Hawks got all the bounces. Toffoli cleanly beats Crawford and hit's the post. Keith scores the game winning goal off a difflection off Lewis's stick. Toews, all be it was called back on the right call, get's a goal off a bounce off Voynov's skate. Just seemed like no matter what the Kings did, it just wasn't going to be their night.
There was also that open net for Richards, but I'll chalk that up as a nice defensive play. The Hawks look nothing like they did last season. It takes a hell of a lot to go back to back and get that hunger back. To me, the Hawks don't seem to have that hunger yet. We saw it in their 1st 2 rounds, and we saw it in game 1. The Hawks won the 1st game on luck, and luck alone.

The way I look at the Blackhawks is like a test, whether the Los Angeles Kings can legitimize (read: win a dynasty) West Coast hockey, just like how the Islanders and Oilers legitimized (read: won dynasties) for non-Original Six East Coast teams and Western Canada, respectively.

Seriously, the Kings had a winning regular-season record against the Blackhawks in 2012, the year the team won The Stanley Cup. Since the Kings won The Stanley Cup, it's like the Blackhawks are mad because the Kings helped Darryl Sutter, one of their draft picks and alumni, won his first-ever Stanley Cup.

Don't get me started with my wrong impression with Coach Sutter.

The Kings are still 2-10 in their last 12 games against the Hawks. Whether it's better passing in a game, or one more defensive play in a game, or one more goal in a game, or one more lucky bounce in a game, or whatever it is, the Hawks have just been in such a groove against the Kings for the last 2 years. The Hawks come in and beat the Kings in the Cup banner game. Of course Chicago was the team that stopped that 1st period shutout streak the Kings were on earlier this season. No Keith for Game 4 last year? Hawks win, giving the Kings their only loss at home in the playoffs last year. It's just always something.

In those 12 games, the Hawks have scored 38 goals, for an average of 3.17. The Kings have scored 25 goals, for an average of 2.08. Sutter's 3-2 league. A difference of 13 goals in 12 games.

This has nothing to do with anything, but I just noticed that Crawford is 29. That actually shocked me. I had no idea. I thought he was like 24.

Ugh, leave it to Sutter to give the Church of Toews some more alone-time reading material.

You have put it much better than I would have. But I guess on this part of the board I can get away with it.
Just to a bunch of idiots that have no clue as to how Sutter works and the concept of gamesmanship.

Yup, they just find different ways to win against us and it's annoying as well as alarming. Bring our best game? They D up. D up? They run us over. Try to score on a rush? Clutch save, then bring it back the other way.

Part of me says the law of averages says we are due, right? But the other part says they're what we are to the Blues/Sharks.

My exact thought! I'm cautiously optimistic.

I don't get those who get hung up on past results. What was LA's record in San Jose's building before these playoffs? How about the Kings record against the Ducks in the regular season? Just focus on what you are going to accomplish now. Think they look at their previous records and come in to the building fearing they're facing another loss?

This. The kings were really banged up in last years series, and the kings have sucked in the regular reason for a while now. Last game was won on a bounce. Kings missed their chances but it was nothing like last year where Chicago was on another level.

Kings can win this series just as easily as the hawks. It's a coin flip. Previous regular season games or any games in the prior years don't mean jack right now.

Agreed.

It's a really good point that the past means nothing especially in regards to what happens next, I'm just more using it as a point to show that the Hawks are adaptable and that they are that good. They've beaten us in various ways--not like the Sharks who were only able to beat is if certain things played into their hands--and they're obviously just as resilient as we are, so we're not just going to 'will' them over like we did to sad joe.

Doesn't mean at all that we can't be better than them and there's certainly no reason to be anything but optimistic.

****crap!

Are you going to tell me that you've never posted past performance to sway an opinion?

Gaborik – Kopitar – Brown
Pearson – Carter – Toffoli
Clifford – Stoll – Williams
King – Richards – Lewis
Fraser – Vey – Nolan

Muzzin – Doughty
Mitchell – Voynov
Schultz – Martinez
McNabb – Greene

-Changes: Kyle Clifford and Trevor Lewis have changed places, as have Willie Mitchell and Jeff Schultz.

Not shocked to see Mitchell get up with Voynov, as he needs a bit more help, but a bit shocked at moving Clifford up (though he has been playing great lately).

Say 'Blackhawks' again. Say 'Blackhawks' again, I dare you, I double dare you mother****er, say Blackhawks one more ******* time!

I've never wanted to throttle a team more than this series.

I think it's a logical move to get King back to LW, he seems to be struggling playing his off-wing. Clifford's been very good on the forecheck of late and has stayed disciplined, so I'm interested in seeing how he'd perform with a puck possession winger like Williams opposite to him. Stoll and Clifford are going to punish some Hawks players with their checking.

Would also like to see Clifford do this again...

It's nice of them to go through the formality of playing the series. What a bunch of class acts those Hawks are.
