They really have no choice, they getting zilch from Brown, Williams, Richards. Kopitar is coming off an injury and not 100%. Carter scored a nice goal tonight but I wouldn't call his play so far this season very impressive. They need the offense DD provides.

And as others have said, benching Penner and Gagne probably isn't going to send the message. Gagne was barely around last year and Penner was horrible and frequently benched by both coaches.

Someone like Richards or Williams needs, at the very least a skate on the fourth line for a game.

Carter is doing what's asked, I think he looks at least Decent. He is not gassed in the Third.

Richards/Brown/Williams play have been just not acceptable.

Richards looks like he is not in shape at all.

One thing I also noticed, why can't we win big faceoffs? It seemed like every PK we'd lose the draw and Stoll lost the one on Nail's goal, on which your a faceoff win and clearance from winning the game.

Brown looks incredibly indifferent out there. He looks nothing like the Dustin Brown we saw the last 20 games of the season and through the playoffs.

He doesn't have an excuse like Carter, Richards, Penner, Gagne, and Williams do, either.

It isnt losing. It's how you lose.

Bad choices, vets not in shape, worse penalties, and what... 0 and 20 on the PP? We're just giving games away like don't care. Getting beats fine. Not being in the game isn't.

Weird game. Tough loss, but not the end of the world. It will take some time to get going. Just look at Boston's start last year. They went the first month 3-7-0 and the next month 12-0-1. We still have a ton of season left.

Amen. It's still early. I'm not thrilled, but the first few games have been a total **** show all around the league with reffing, injuries, etc.

The PP is garbage right now but it's not going to be worst in the league. Hell, how many posts did we hit tonight?

Everyone is getting up to play the champs, and the champs are not. Look at Yakupov's celebration after that goal, dude went absolutely ****ing bonkers (and i'm sure the media will have a field day with it tomorrow, which is stupid). What did Carter do? Bro pelvic thrust.

Like, I'm mad, but I'm more just dizzy with how that game went. Did they go through the whole rulebook?

P.S. I knew we were doomed with Dubnyk in :sarcasm:

At least we didn't lose to the Ducks or Canucks :dunno:

One thing I can say about the Ducks which I wouldn't think id ever say, their offense is balls to wall for so long, sure they suck everywhere else but they have an awesome Top 6. Id kill to get rid of Richards for a Benn. Bobby Ryan.. come here.... or Perry.

make matters worse, the pacific looks like its gonna be a blood bath again.

I wouldn't bet on it. They have shaky D and inconsistent goaltending, to keep their talented offence, goaltending or D will always suffer. Too much talent, not enough cap.

I agree but that is what makes them a scar team instead of a good one. If they did have all the pieces together they would be a much better team and as such be one that you would expect to be hard to play against game in and game out.

The way they are today and as far as I can see for the rest of this season anyways they are a scary team to face. They have some seriously talented forwards on the team (how many 1st overalls do the have playing for them? I honestly have forgotten) and they can play run and gun O and score goals in quick bunches as we have seen.

You let down on them and they can bite you. Scary. Not good but scary.

Will they have to make changes to sign the talent that they have? I think so once they start adding elite talented kid D to the NHL roster but until then they are a development machine for some of the most talented kid forwards in the league.

They will get value out of the kids that they feel they won't be able to sign. That said, I don't care what happens to the Oilers with the exception that I hope they continue to only be at best a scary team.

Stoll kept losing faceoff after faceoff, while Kopi was really good. Idk why they still let him take it.

I really like Carter its just Richards is so doing so bad its making him look bad as a winger.

Brown is the most mind boggling to me. He has been playing overseas and he isn't providing ANYTHING. Where are the hits?

looks like he is trying to do too much.

Brown does this sometimes, gets in a rut of play that doesn't suit him.

Sutter has to remind him (simple game, North/South , hit people).

Supposedly Darryl is not happy, at all.

@dantencer: Sutter just came walking down the hallway looking for the officials. Only reason he'd be down this far. Long way from Kings room.

@dantencer: Will air Darryl Sutter on CHED as soon as we can bleep out the f-bomb...

@dantencer: My visitors dressing room guy just came back from Sutter scrum and told me "you're gonna wanna run that...he's gonna get fined"

The too many men penalties are what set Sutter off. He was ready to kill someone after that one in OT.
