I like how they did the release in phases....first: "Jonathan Quick had something happen in practice and left the ice...it's not related to his injury he just got over"....next: "Jonathan Quick is more day to day, than longterm"....then next: "Jonathan Quick is not day to day..." than finally: "Jonathan Quick has had meniscus surgery on his knee" something like that. I don't feel like looking all of that up again.

And just who plays the #2 center ...Kempe, Amadio?

If they were to trade Muzzin, Carter, etc, it's not always picks and prospects, but possibly a player that plays on your team and that position.
The Senators got Chris Tierney and Dylan Demelo for Karlsson (among other prospects) and they are playing great on the Sens.
Not that Carter or Muzzin return 2 young roster players, but I do not think if the Kings trade 2-4 players, all will be picks and prospects
only.

What would be reasonable returns for these guys? And where can you see them landing?

Im not sure we need to trade all of them, but its a deep draft and a retool is needed..

Carter, Muzzin, Martinez, Pearson, Toffoli

Would Carter to NJ for Zacha plus picks happen?

Martinez to Florida for a 1st plus Psysk (RHD, stay a home)?

Muzzin for a 1st plus?

That's how long it took a Kings doctor to dust off and figure out how to use the MRI machine.

In a hard cap league you almost have to take back a body. For cap hits to work, or the number of contracts a team wants to have, or if there's an internal budget, etc.

NJ is already at the bottom of the cap and probably close to the bottom in terms of cash spent. Do they want to add that much guaranteed cap/salary until 2022 for a 34 year old who may or may not still be feeling an injury? The Panthers are slumming it with the Kings so far. Why do they want to get older and more expensive? Plus throw in their 1st this year, which right now would be 4th overall? They don't even have their own 2nd or 3rd round picks this year. Might have to do better than Martinez to get that 1st.

If anyone is willing to give just a 1st for Muzzin, forget the plus, you take it and run. To me Muzzin's d-zone play looks ugly, for at least a couple years now, whether he's out there with Martinez or anyone else. His offense isn't good enough to make up for it either. Maybe there's a desperate GM out there, but I'm not high on Muzzin at all. Until shown otherwise, I'm assuming Blake has to sell low on him.

The more you know! Much like the Kepler space telescope, the Kings are out of fuel.

NASA's Planet-Hunting Kepler Space Telescope Is Done. What Will Happen to It?

"Kepler team members will beam a single, simple command to the sun-orbiting planet hunter, triggering a decommissioning sequence that's already aboard the spacecraft. Kepler will shut down its radio transmitter and onboard fault-protection systems, becoming an inert chunk of metal that floats, silent and unresponding, through the cold, dark depths of space."

With respect to Brickleys poor play in the minors, it doesn’t matter to me when it comes to watching the Kings. I expect them to lose most nights and I’d rather find out whether a young player is ready for the nhl now versus some aging vets.

The kick in the nuts is that Stevens seems to do, at best, nothing to help the kids succeed.

This is gonna sound contrarian, but that's not his job to help the kids succeed.....it is and it isn't, in the long run, if they don't succeed, team doesn't win, but in the minute day to day operations of the team, that's not his job, that's where the associate coaches come into play, they are the ones for the most part running practices, developing players, working on weaknesses etc, they obviously report to Stevens, and try to implement his vision for the practice etc, but acute player development, doesn't fall on Stevens....

It’s Stevens job to make sure that’s all done correctly by his assistants. So ultimately, it is his job. He’s in charge, it’s his show. The final responsibility of how the team is playing and whether it succeeds are not is 100% on him.

Just a collection of info/rumors regarding the Kings...

What a coup would it be to get rid of dead weight like Pearson, Martinez, and Clifford and in return get W Nylander... highly unlikely but that would be a sweet coup by Blake

Neither the Maple Leafs or William Nylander are moving off their stance. doesn’t think the Leafs want to trade him yet, but they know it may be time to start seeing what options are out there. The Leafs could target teams that they feel would be fits. GM Kyle Dubas scouted the Flyers, Kings, Wild, and Hurricanes recently.

Frank Seravalli of TSN: TSN’s top 15 NHL trade bait board.
1. William Nylander – Toronto Maple Leafs
2. Kevin Hayes – New York Rangers
3. Mats Zuccarello – New York Rangers
4. Alec Martinez – Los Angeles Kings
5. Gustav Nyquist – Detroit Red Wings
6. Tanner Pearson – Los Angeles Kings
7. Sergei Bobrovsky – Columbus Blue Jackets
8. Brett Pesce – Carolina Hurricanes
9. Tyler Myers – Winnipeg Jets
10. Artemi Panarin – Columbus Blue Jackets
11. Vladimir Namestnikov – New York Rangers
12. Charles Hudon – Montreal Canadiens
13. Zack Kassian – Edmonton Oilers
14. Kyle Clifford – Los Angeles Kings
15. Wayne Simmonds – Philadelphia Flyers

Chris Nichols of Nichols on Hockey: Darren Dreger was on TSN 1290 and was asked about Frank Seravalli’s trade bait board.
“The sense that I get from L.A. – now, this is going back a week or so ago and I specifically asked about Martinez – the feedback I got back was, ‘Not yet.’”

Dreger notes that teams never want to make trades when they are in “a position of weakness.” There would be lots of interest in Martinez but the value isn’t as high as what GM Rob Blake may like.
“But that’s part of the heavy lifting of being a GM. Blake has got to assess his situation, coaching included – and now that Quick is out for an extended and indefinite period of time – and decide whether or not a trade is enough to inject some life into this group, or just sit pat and see how it goes.”

It could be whoever they target in the trade, and I'm sure that is something they looking at. Carter would be better on wing, esp given the changes to his game, less responsibility.
And as has been stated, the Kings are getting calls about AMart but Luc is weighing his options, and some of that is the other trade piece is not what he wants or he feels is undervalue for AMart .

And what they should do, in 4 weeks when Matthews comes back, is put a package together for Kadri, who is a 2C, and stuck on the 3rd line. He's a talented center and should be getting more minutes with better wingers in a top 6 role. And he's good defensively.

Of course it is, I wasn't arguing that it wasn't, but again, as far as minute player development, it's not his job on a day to day level.

Does it matter on this team??? We need to tank and position ourselves to get a high pick plus the assets from a Carter trade!

The Carter pick + prospect/player won't be as high as you think, given his injury and age. I think most GM's would be aware , of course there is always somebody that might overpay.

I think they will be realistic and have a short list of players they keep and have a moveable list of the rest.

And I'd still put a package together for Kadri...
