It took about two months for the NHL to finish the Watson investigation, not including the appeal. The appeal was another month. This was during the offseason, so maybe the NHL moves to a decision more quickly with Voynov, but who knows. Then the appeal (I wouldn't be surprised if there is one, if Voynov gets substantially more of a suspension than Watson did).

I've talked with some Winnipeg fans and they said it was a deal (Muzzin+Carter for Trouba) they could get behind. It gives them 2 options to fill their lineup holes for the price of Trouba. They weren't trying to tie up too much cap in the Dman with how deep they are on the right side. They would rather move Myers contract if possible but would do the Trouba deal if push came to shove.

In the 2017 World Championships, he scored 14 points in 10 games, to lead Sweden, which took the Gold Medal....Backstrom had 7 pts, Lindholm 7, Rask 7, Kilngberg 6, Oliver-Ekman Larsson 5, Landeskog 5, Alex Edler 4, Hedman 4. He scored TWICE as many points as all of those star players. ..at the age of 21. That's pretty fukking special.

Backstrom played 5 games.

Regardless, there's been plenty of players who've had really good tournaments.

He's a fine top 6 forward in the NHL.

Ew, no. The classic points per 60 "if we just played him more, he'd score more" fallacy. Just play him 40 min a game, he'll be a 100 point scorer! Hell, why stop there, roll him out there all 60 minutes!

The other stuff is as dependent on system as it is individual--zone entries and exits are phenomenal and part of his skillset, but he's not significantly better than other peers on the Leafs, and other relative stats are in the same ballpark.

He might be overvalued from the "all Leafs overrate their players" standpoint, but the stats don't show him as any sort of wonderkind. He's on par with Marner which is fantastic, but all these suggestions that he's something close to Matthews/McDavid are awful, and this author not only pick-and-choosed stats to fit his argument, he stretched them. The kind of article where the author starts with the conclusion written and finds what he can to support it.

Hainsey is better than Muzzin right now, he's not making the mistakes that Muzzin does, he does play a simpler game etc.

Like I said, let's not mistake value in a 24 hour vacuum for actual overall value.

Go ahead and propose Muzzin for Hainsey straight up, let me know how it goes.

it's the same kind of thinking that's had people at times saying they'd rather have gardiner than Doughty and that Drew is actually the 2nd best d-man on the team etc.
 
Carter to the Avs for Jost and the Avs 1st
Toffoli + Martinez to the Leafs for Kapanen, Liljegren and TMLs 1st
Pearson + Muzzin to the Isles for Wahlstrom, Sbisa and the Isles conditional 1st based on playoffs, blah, blah, blah lol

The wording here is strange. Are they saying they do “non-factual” investigations? Or are they just saying “We’re gonna waste 6 months so VV will lose another year and then give him 40 more games so we show people we take domestic violence seriously. He’ll be retirement age by the time he’s eligible to play again in the league.

That's just legalese, as in they're gathering evidence. Not asking the opinions of Kings fans.

Maybe The Avs go for that one but I cant see Toronto or the Isles going for those.
