I'll also say that as just a 50 point 1st liner, we still need more star power to win a Cup.

How is 12 point pace the norm? He has never paced that low.
29 point pace his 18yo year.
29 point pace his 19yo year.
34 point pace his 20yo year.
40 point pace last year.
And this is all pretty much 5v5.
There's progression, slow, but progression. 50+ points at 25 or so is no stretch at all.

Please indicate where I ever said this. Thanks!

Further, I wouldn't say there is progression. We now have the guy regressing, anyway. Which, again, is objective and based on stats.

To me it looks like a 30-40-ish point player right now who had one season where his points popped a bit towards the higher end of that spectrum.

Ah and maybe read your post:

I guess underlining and bolding something is suppose to indicate what exactly?

Are you f***ing kidding?

Seriously, ask yourself that before you read my answer.

The underlining is supposed to mean he was sucking ass this season and performing closer to his previous seasons.

Seriously? Was that somehow written in Sanskrit or something?

One thing to note for those saying he could be a 50pt player with elite defense and comparing him to 50pt players of past eras… a 50pt player today isn’t what a 50pt player was years ago.

No, but it's close to what Mark Stone is and it might be better than what pre-50 goal Chris Kreider was here for a long time.

Does 2nd overall pick this past year Leo Carlson have more points than KK the bust has in his career. Why couldn't we be lucky and draft first that year and than the next year draft third. KK is a bust and Laf is a 50 pt player not bad for late first round pick or later pick, but not first overall.

You seem mad because of some perceived slight. You were condescending when responding to Viper and you're condescending to me. You've been that way since these boards began so good on ya!

Anyways, like I said, in the end I agree he's likely a middle six player. In 20 games this year he's actually, offensively, producing worse than his age 18-20 seasons.

Nonsense. Kakko's issues are far more than just confidence.

He's just not very good - at least in comparison to what we thought we were getting. He doesn't stand out anywhere other than puck possession.

He's a better version of Marcel Hossa. Wake me when his play changes and the promise he showed as a 17 year old comes to light. He's a valuable player as a bottom-sixer. But let's stop pretending he's going to be even a 2nd line forward at this point.
If he was speedy and confident he could be more like Marian Hossa but then again his shot isn't as good, so i think most of his goals should be around the net. Bury him net front.

I don't think that calling him a solid 2nd/3rd liner is "harsh" at all. How many forwards on pace for 12 points in their 5th season would even be considered that?

If anything, I'm probably being too friendly to him just since he's a Ranger.

He's had ONE single 40 point season and he's on pace for 12 points this year.

Let's hold off on calling him a "40-point 2-way winger" until he can come close to replicating that.

The hopium some people still have for the guy is just silly. We need to look to reality at some point.

Hopium is a French high-tech manufacturer.

This thread needs sir avgard to solve all this in-house fighting. There is only one of us who really knows the answers to the questions we're trying to answer
I hear if you say his name three times, he appears to take us to a higher plane of existence via verbiage that only Esa Tikkanen could truly understand.

Totally and 100% agree with this.

Viewers are literally bombarded with gambling ads every game, every commercial break, amongst every arena and ad-space they can squeeze it into, utilizing high-profile HOF players including Gretzky and Lundqvist as willing spokesmen. Gambling issues can and will ruin peoples lives and the entire partnership is grossly out of touch.

Regardless, if you are OK with willingly pushing this addiction onto your fanbase to improve your bottom line, then there absolutely needs to be some transparency regarding injuries and oversight of it all. You can't have it both ways.

The NFL just investigated one such incident

And as we know, the NHL recently levied a huge suspension for gambling, while the player and team ironically sported a Bet99 ad on their helmets.

How does knowing if Kakko will be out 6 weeks os 10 weeks affect gambling?
