People can argue whether he should develop here or in the AHL all they want but the truth is he’s just a horrible first overall pick that won’t develop in any league.

He’s bad, no IQ, no shot, no situational awareness, limited skill, absolutely nothing is elite except on a tape measurer and when he steps on a scale.

Can’t believe he was our pick, I guess I’ll just think of Lane Hutson to feel a little bit better.

I disagree, he has a lot of potential. You can say it's just size but his size skating combo is elite (not debatable, we have the numbers), and he has enough skill with that combo to be potentially devastating.

He just has an extremely narrow game right now. Playing against the toughest opposition is not the best place IMO to broaden your game.

it's about what they did and how much of an influence it had on the rest of their career.
That’s exactly what I said and it underlines that you are only basing you comparison in the previous quoted message with the paper instead of looking at what was done in the ice.

I just send your CV to all NHL executives they can't wait to hire you and pay you millions a year.

You’re going to get flamed for saying this but oh well. I saw flashes of what Kohtkaniemi and Galchenyuk were supposed to be. I haven’t seen it with Slafkovsky. I really don’t get what they were going for with this pick.

The hits of Slafkowsky getting smoked just keep coming.

That shift sums up Slaf and Caufield’s game last night.

Slaf really needs better awareness, self preservation. This has to be priority #1. He can’t work on all the other things if he’s not healthy. Rehab isn’t development.

Size, skill, speed. He’s got the tools. Then again so does Josh Anderson.

I can see why we drafted him. The tools are there. It’s not often you can get a big skilled player who can skate. But with a player like this, development is key and I feel like we’ve done a really poor job on that front.

He hasn’t shown any skill and his speed has been mediocre as well. Tired of people trying to sell size. It doesn’t mean anything if the player doesn’t use it in any productive way.

He does have it, that's obvious. The big issue is he can't use it to his full capabilities because the game is so fast for him at the moment. He needs to work on those skills in Laval.

Juraj's speed is not a matter for debate, we have the numbers.

That's pretty ridiculous given how big he is. Who's the fastest?

Rasmus Kupari had the highest top speed measured so far in game. Necas has the most bursts above 35kph, and Nate has the most above 32kph.

I expect the top speed to change as the season goes on. After a full season, the top speed is likely to be above 40, given that that's the top speed in Liiga for as long as it's been measured.

Ridiculous. No wonder our fans are famous for booing their own. It's an embarrassment. Even IF, and that's a massive IF, you were remotely close in your assessment, he's only played 51 games...and the GREMLIN (of all people) declares he's a bust. LMFAO.

Yeahhh well I’ve been saying it since draft day, he sucks.

I used to attend prospect camps and do writeups, everyone was flaming me too when I called Scherbak a bust.

Same old comments every time, put a Leafs jersey on the kid and pretty sure the whole board would call him a complete bust already.

Slaf has various elements on paper that could make him a good player if ever he can bring everything together.

One of the problems that will absolutely need be solved is his very substandard number of shots on net. Whether he’s a pass first player or a pass almost always, his usual 1 shot on net (sometimes 0) is embarrassing. He’s on the road to nowhere in the NHL if this isn’t massively bumped up.

I guess it’s true the kid is powerful and has decent top speed, but he’s also extremely heavy.

Calling him a great skater is a huge stretch I think, he’s not agile, he needs a lot of time to get going and in the NHL the first couple steps are what matters most, you will never have great explosiveness and agility playing at 225-240.

And no matter how fit he gets the kid is a tank, he will never be agile I’m pretty sure of that.

Only the idiots. No one that calls a 19 year old a bust after 51 games has ANY credibility. Whether he's a Leaf or a Habs player. It's plain dumb.

And please don't tell us you know more than MSL, who clearly disagrees with your opinion. I'd suggest watch him play a lot closer. He shows a very good IQ. Unlike Scherbak. I hope you love dining on crow...
