Juraj Slafkovsky - Year Two

Where would you prefer Slaf spend his 23-24 season?

Agree.

But as hypothethically as him not performing in the AHL,

What do we do if he has 8 points in his next 10 games ?
For the record I think he’ll produce more than 1in10 in the AHL.

If he has 8 in the next 10 NHL games (bringing him to 0.5PPG) naturally we will bleat and gloat and sneer at the haters who wanted him to be in the AHL.

Somewhere on earth in a hospital
Head scouts are bad
Gorton hiring his friends who just got fired is bad
Hugues doesn't know anything about draft picks
MSL has no idea how to develop a player, dont give me Caufield , Caufield problem was Ducharme.
Carey Price is not here anymore to carry the entire org like Lebron James did in Cleveland.

Slaf was a mistake the second Stephen Leroux leaked the choice.

Also the entire branch of management on Slaf is a complete shitshow. Like they did not learn with Kotkaniemi.

This entire thing is the fault to the complete org and not just Slaf.

Dissing the Price pick was never about his ability to be a goalie. It was about our eternal wish and need for an offensive forward while we thought the goaltending position was set.

Mind you......as I've seen saying all along...WAY TOO SOON to give up on Slaf ability to be a succesful NHL'er.

Later on, being on Price's case was also not entirely directed at Price, I believe. Price was the scapegoat for the management having as sole strategy to have Price....and that's it.
Lots of truth here. But at the end of the day, we have a lot of fans who like to eat their own whatever the reason.

It’s also not surprising at all to see posters try to take points out of context. Now watch as some guys try to argue that I’m saying Slaf will be as good as Price. It’s inevitable that it will happen.

Based on? I haven’t seen his games but he is leading his team in pts with 5 less games played.

It doesn’t give the whole picture but it says that he can play in the offensive zone and doesn’t need anyone to help him make space or create plays. He is a driver. But everyone knew that already.
I was asking a question. I don’t follow others teams prospects religiously. Lol I read he’s been pretty unimpressive down the latest stretch. Could’ve just been bad information.

Bullshit.

MSL has done a good job with CC. He’s also done really well with guys like Dach and Barron. I have full confidence in him. I don’t understand what their doing with Slaf but he’s the exception not the rule.

Moreover I keep reading “the sky is falling” posts from you every day. “WERE THE NEXT BUFFALO!!!” I mean it’s total nonsense.

The club is rebuilding as many of us have wanted it to for years. There will be some players who pan out and some who won’t. But the idea that everything sucks is just crap.

The rebuild has just begun and already some posters are losing their minds. It’s pathetic.

As much I like Dach , we have yet to see a full season off of him. He's doing good i agree but i wouldn't scream 70+ points until he makes it.

As for Caufield i could agree with that. Ducharme was a big moron tho.

Not really sure about Barron ,he did decent but still alot and i say alot of work before we can say that.

As for Slaf , ur right it's a complete disaster, it should not be happening with a 1st OA been handled like that

For the moment, no one in this organisation deserves the benefit of the doubt. I'll feel confident about this rebuild when they prove they can draft worth a shit and care more about developing their players than preserving their inflated egos.

In the meantime I'll treat this as the Bergevin yes men era 2.0.

I’ve seen moments of what could be with him. And honestly I think he’d be having a much better year if Dach were here.

What I see right now is a player with good potential who’s being mishandled.

As for Price - it was endless. Tons of guys would be all over here with glee if he had a bad game. Several posters had names like CareyisScarey or PriceBeachBall. It was a f***ing joke.

As I’ve said from the beginning with this player, I wouldn’t have drafted him. I’d have gone with Wright. But we took this guy. So now we owe him the patience of seeing what he can do. I don’t know any more than you do if this guy’s going to pan out. But the pile on nonsense is so over the top it’s ridiculous.

Let’s put it this way: I’m far more upset with the development side on this player than I am with the pick itself. We are putting him in a bad position and I don’t understand it.

I was here for the Price draft but I got to watch him play in Jr so I was a bit biased , he had the tools. I didn't want right, I was on team Cooley, but this team wonders why its stuck in mediocrity and failure, they just can't seem to draft either way.

As I said, Slaf may be the wrong guy. I don’t know any more than you or anyone else.

I’m not saying he’ll turn out the way Price did. I’m simply saying that some people exhibit no patience and are so quick to pile on. You’d think people would have learned by now that it takes time to see what a player can do.

I cant recall the last 1OA who didn't resemble an NHL player in their D+2 season. We're in uncharted territory here.

Yes we are. It could turn out to be another 1999 or 2012. And of course it’s just our luck to get the number one overall.

I sincerely hope that it’s not though. I have high hopes for guys we got later in the draft. Hutson in particular would go a long way to making us feel better about that draft should Slaf not pan out.

All the Shoresys down in the AHL will chirp Slafkovsky into the fetal position. Send him back to Europe, bring him back here September 2025
We already know they’re going to dub him “Balki”.

Yeah but we need signs of something, I don't see anything at all this year, he's regressing. I mean Cole came and and we knew exactly what he had, a wicked shot and a sense for the net. Arbs came in, and people knew the physical play he could bring, the rest was a bonus. What is Slaf bringing right now? What is the promise thus far? We all hope he works out but it really is hard to find things to cheer for in his game. Even Gallagher is crashing the net and digging out pucks, props to him, and I hate Gallgher. It's worrisome

Cole went half a season doing absolutely nothing because he was mishandled. Usage matters and we’ve teamed this guy with Newhook and Anderson. Just an awful combo for him to be on.

Even though I advocated for the AHL to start the year, I have to admit he looked dynamite with Dach. Maybe it’s as simple as that… he needs to play with skilled players.

As I’ve said, if they aren’t going to do that just send him to the AHL.
