Nice goal. The only negative is if the Habs were thinking of sending him down, they probably won't now because he scored lol. One good game shouldn't negate 10 bad ones.

If he keeps this up tho by all means let him stay. We'll see - if he stinks again in his next 2-3 games, send him down and let him cook in the A

But he hasn't had 10 bad games. He's been decent. Had a few mediocre games a few OK games and a few good games. 10 bad games, my ass.

The coaches putting him on that line, despite his stat line and the growing vitriol from "fans" and media, is massive...

& I'm sure that the communication behind the scenes has been consistent in asking him to trust the process, keep working on the finer details, and not worry about the points... To "reward" him with a promotion just as the chorus to send him down to Laval is at its highest, must have felt incredibly good for the kid... Shows, with action, that he can trust what they tell him.

Leadership in action! And he rewarded their trust with a goal :)

Future is bright 😎

Even if he was the consensus 1st overall, that doesn't excuse the scouting department. Their job is not to follow the consensus: if it was, we wouldn't need them. They messed up by falling in love with what they wanted Slaf to be, which is something he isn't. He isn't a power forward, he isn't a beast in front of the net or in the corners, he's a playmaker who doesn't have the hockey IQ or processing speed to think the game quickly enough to make plays.

Maybe he can develop the reaction time or pattern recognition in the AHL, but right now he's trending to be somewhere between Bickell and Pouliot.

Is there

They should consider sending Anderson down too because his line keeps sucking.

Not to worry... Team doesn't appear to share your assessment of the past 10 games 😉

Reality is that he didn't play all that much different tonight then previously.

Playing with Suzuki/CC vs Jason Ward Anderson & Winger@Center Newhook is enough to make anyone look "much better"

Context. Matters.

So everything I've seen with Slaf away from Anderson and/or Newhook AS HIS CENTRE has been decent. Need more instances of this but right now, slafs last few games look to be more due to the chemistry with his linemates

Here's a novelty....you stay him on that line....AND you start him on PP1 instead of Jason Ward Anderson.
I 100% agree. You live or die by him this way. Nothing really to lose since it's unlikely we're a playoff team, and EVERYTHING to gain. He looked so good playing with some skilled teammates. Could've had another couple points tonight the way he played.
