It's funny how sometimes guys just slide. Pelech was supposed to be a high 2nd rounder in his draft year, and he slid back to us in the 3rd round. That turned out okay for us. Hopefully Raty's a similar deal.
True, Pelech, and Barzal were gems the Isles got as sliders. Then you have the Josh Hosang's. You hit some, you miss some. Raty is trending to be a bullseye.

Yeah, it's looking that way about Raty.

And I think JHS was more of a slacker than a slider. :sarcasm:

Safe to say that Raty is our best prospect (at least the one with the most upside)?

100% solid NHLer, 3C is his floor because he is so well-rounded and has such solid fundamentals and size with some inherent skill (shot). His skating is his only limiting factor but that can always be improved.

If Raty honestly becomes a good player, i'm gonna scoff at teams like Arizona who drafted Doan instead

I don't even think his skating is that bad. Can most certainly use improvement, but the kid definitely didn't look out of place in his preseason games.

I know + - is only a layer of additional information for measuring a player, but no one seems to talk about Raty being +19 tops on Jukurit. To me Finnish players are usually coached to be well rounded players. To me this makes him a potential good 2 way player. Being proficient offensively and defensively is a good sign Raty will be a good player. Just how good remains to be seen.

+19 is really nice also. Show's how good he is as a player and his growth also. Remember, he was a 0 in 2020 despite just scoring 6 total points in 35 games. That growth is massive

This is getting ridiculous. Lol kid just produces. What a godsend his trade from Karpat has been.

I think he also has an assist this game as well

Stick down and ready for the pass. No hesitation. Quick to the net. Beautiful form.

Yeah, I'm all in on the kid. Can't believe he slipped to the late 2nd round. What a league lmao.

*WARNING* this gif may cause uncontrollable orgasm. Aatu Raty doing the Yes chant!! Kid with a shoutout to the island!!

Never thought Olli Jokinen would be a coach of this caliber. His team Jukurit were supposed to be a non-playoff team and was ranked 11-14 before the season. They now sit comfortable at #2 and is for sure a playoff-team and very probably with home-advantage. Räty fits like a glove there and is completely reborn when getting Top-minutes.

Kid was a top 5 pick and sucked his draft year, I don't blame anyone. No one wants a Sean Day. But I'm glad we took the shot.

Very fair points. But if ever there was a year to NOT put too much emphasis on development it was last year due to COVID.

That’s why I was all fine with the Isles trading the first, but hoping they could still retain and/or even gain more seconds and thirds.

Ended up working out like that… but in a more round about way.

Well then, looks like Raty had yet another good game. It's insane that this kid is producing at this pace ever since he got traded to Jukerit. All we can do is just watch from afar, and be amazed

well did anyone expect Sean Day out of this season? Frankly I think he was getting shafted because of this poor season. It sucks.
