To all those saying we shouldn't pay Lundqvist 8.5 million because you shouldn't pay that much for a goalie: What exactly do you want, or rather expect Sather, to do with those extra couple of millions?

Now, first of all we have to assume that Lundqvist gets back to his old play that he showed for most of the past seven years. If he doesn't, then of course you are right that it's far too much.

But assuming he gets back to being one of the best goalies of the world, then that money is far better spend on him re-signing than everything else. People continuously bring up teams like the Blackhawks, who don't need to spend much on goaltending. But that's only because they have so many great players and, indeed, they rather need the money to retain all those great players. But who do we need to retain that can't be afforded due to Lundqvist? We need to get enough great players first before we even may think about downgrading our goaltending for a few million dollars more in capspace.

For this team re-signing Lundqvist even to such a cap hit is a no brainer. There isn't just one way to build a cup team, there are many. And there sure as hell are some that involve the goaltender being amongs the team's best and highest paid players.

The team needs to be overhauled. Forget about the coach. Its on management to make the necessary changes. This is good. Let them continue to lose. Sather steps down as boss. Trades. Break up the team. Amnesty Richards.

Team has zero discipline, 3 guys come to play every night, Hank was awful last night, I would rather win 1-0 every night and block 50 shots, then hand the Islanders a 5-3 win ....you can't fire the whole team, make a huge trade or fire the wrong coach for this team...my opinion, before the whole season is pissed away

I'm so sick of Nash, he is beyond worthless, "try to spin and turn it over". I rather have Boyle on the top line than his lazy ass. And get him the **** away from the PP, he slows it down and since he's obviously afraid of all kind of physical contact, he is loosing every battle for the puck along the board.

And what was MCD doing on the first two goals?

So much anger after this game.

And why wasn't Zucc or Brassard on the 4 on 3? We need creativity not shots wide.

MDZ is not a top 4 dman.

And Henrik is not looking good.

Well that was about it I guess. **** it.

Nash is the type of player that teams dont win with. he does not have that mentality... and Nash is a streak player and does not play a complete game.. Nash is the type of player that cant carry a team without help

lol last night Boyle looked more like Nash than Nash!!

Broken record. Some of us been sayin it all season.

Bad team. No good mojo. Home stand from hell.

Hank seriously is lost. Clueless. Fights pucks and has zero confidence. Beyond worried now. He just isn't the same guy were used to. We have Zero chance when he's letting softies in like that.

Score 3 goals with hank in net against the piles should be plenty. Not. This. Year.

Team lacks heart. Seems Collectively they realize they aren't that good and it shows. Too many passsengers not doing their part. Look at Nash and beever. Both invisible. With those 2 contracts and hank thrown in, we be in bad shape.

Nash and beever total 15 goals. Haha joke. When poo poo is your best player. Um that's not good.

To me it's hard to blame av. He's got a dogs hit lineup to work with. As has been said 1 Dillion times before, team lacks talent. Team cannot score. Av can't do much when hank craps his pants and we can't bail him out cuz we field a lineup of 3rd and 4th liners.

We lack skill. Now we lack heart and determination. Blow it up.

I'm conflicted as to what's better: "entertaining" 5-3 losses vs grinding can't get out of our own end 2-1 wins.

It looks like, at least after 35 games so far this season, that the torts system may be a better fit for this group of "talent". I was one who hated that brand of hockey but may be that's our only chance of making the playoffs with this group.

Hopefully Talbot gets the next 3-4 starts he has earned it. hank needs to get his head together. I do think its a mental thing maybe because of the new contract although he has played bad all season. The only games he has played well in was the first Caps game, the dallas game, and the sabres games

I did not enjoy watching that shot-blocking, but it is starting to look like Torts understood what he had to work with and found a way to squeeze out wins. Ugly as it was.

AV is not going to go there. I think he is going to let this mess spiaral down until he can force some trades. This is how the mercenary cycle starts. Because instead of tanking and shooting for draft picks and a long term stratgey, we will make the playoffs and appear to be "close".

Who cares if the season is a lost season. What makes this season different than other years when they barely made the playoffs and lost in the first round? You prefer that charade? The Rangers aren't going anywhere with a new coach or some magical trade.

That's probably a good idea. It's certainly not due to his lack of efforts. I really do think he tries too hard sometimes. Breakaway saves used to be his main thing. In the past, if it's a choice between a PK or a PS, I would say PS because he's that good. And if we go to a SO, we'd win. Just don't have the same confidence this season. You can't just lose it overnight, can u?

If i'm AV i would told Henrik: i dont care if you get 5 goals in 1st period, you will continue to play...hell with benching.
He needs to hear it from coach's mouth that things arent that bad, and that he has patience to wait him...
Curently, Hank has lots of no-lovers who just forget all those good years, when he was that guy who keeped him team in a game.
All those Talbot instead of him just making situation worse...IMO.
He is best when he knows that he is no.1 goalie, right know he is lots of miles away from that.

And hopefully get a top 5 pick this draft.

For all the people who said Torts is stubborn, what is AV? Its obvious this isnt working but he keeps doing it. Sounds stubborn to me. Unless they are just gonna let the season play out like this to see if guys can learn, idk but something needs to be done. Sather needs to get the **** out of NY.

Never thought I would miss Torts, but....

Torts might not like Vancouver but he must be laughing really hard now.

Don't know if AV's going to be the right guy for a start from scratch team. Personnally blowing it up sounds okay to me but AV and Sather should follow them out the door. Richards is the amnesty guy but Nash looks truly awful. Try to trade him at the deadline I suppose. Take back some salary if you have to and grab a couple 1st rounders/blue chip prospects. The guy has no edge to his game. The only real keepers right now are Henrik (hoping he'll get back his game), Talbot (in case he doesn't), McDonagh, Zuccarello, Kreider and Stepan. Hold on to the few decent prospects you have and everyone else is movable after Xmas.

Don't think we have a lot left to worry about. When your 'best' players are playing like garbage your team is not going anywhere. This Rangers team is not making the playoffs. It's not just skill--there's no push back when they get down. There are only two players playing consistently well game in and game out--McDonagh and Zuccarello. Kreider has had a good breakout this year but lately he's been on and off. Stepan and Hagelin have been on and off. Guys like Girardi, Callahan and Stralman have enough pride but they're not playing well either. Lundqvist letting in **** goals. Personally Talbot should be playing more--maybe a lot more.

But the more we lose the better positioning for the draft as long as the GM doesn't trade the pick or doesn't blow the pick.

Will the real Hank please stand up?

Company holiday party last night, so I only saw the highlights. Well, "highlights" but to me those goals were.... penalty shot, breakaway, and two deflections right from the top of the crease.

Will the real New York Rangers defense please stand up?

If anyone wants to recap the game, tell me how some players looked, I'd be eternally grateful.

Nah man, Hank is the reason for this entire teams horrible play

Boyle and Dorsett came to play. Everyone else, not so much. Nash gotta go, Girardi gotta go, you know the usual stuff
