You and I have different definitions of ‘suffered’. I’ll take the proven play off performer all day long. They are fairly evenly matched until you start including playoffs, and that’s when this argument becomes one sided, pretty quickly. One guy performs, the other not so much. Salary and its impact cannot be discounted either.

Pasta's first two seasons he was playing part time in the AHL and getting like 10 minutes a night in the NHL at 18 years old as a late first rounder on a good team.

Marner was getting 17 minutes a night as the 4th overall pick on a bad team at an older age.

Pretty much everything you said there is wrong. Pasta was playing 14 minutes per night (13:57 and 13:58) on a team that missed the playoffs both years. Marner played 16:23 and 16:49 on a playoff team both years being used on the 3rd and 4th lines. I mean, the one thing you got right was his draft position?

Marner WOULD HAVE had 95 points except he missed 11 games with an injury and covid wiped out the last 12 games

His 16 goals in 59 games would have been 35

It doesn't work like that though...would have is not did.

Paced does not equal actually did it...players slump all the time or the schedule just gets harder...either you did it or you didn't

Pasta does this every year, his f***in kid died and he still potted 40 and was over a ppg. That was a down year for him.

This production isn’t “contract year” stuff, it’s “he’s an elite winger” stuff
