Saw the replays this morning. He acted like a dumbass. A perfect display to show that not everyone is equal - he has the status to pull off this stunt and nobody can touch him.

I can appreciate that he's a magician on the ice, but everything off ice seems off with him.

I am sensing a pattern with players from Russia not being fans of all star weekend.

Do you mean Ovechkin? Early in his career, he was probably the most fun player to watch at the all star game, he looked genuinely excited. He gave a heck of a show to the kids.

And when he was done with the weekend (probably due to being older, having a family, etc), he told the NHL and the fans straight. Didnt go make a mockery of the weekend.

You watched the whole event rather than a 20 second clip?
Since I started watching I did watch the whole skills competition, the hardest shot and the fastest skater. And actually now I'm looking forward to watch the ASG, wondering if Kuch's gonna sabotate that, but I hope he will try to score his no shot goal.

The all star game is a corporate circle jerk, and is all about generating money for the NHL masquerading as being ‘for the kids’

The people freaking out about him not putting on a show ‘for the kids’ is hilarious in this thread. The show starts in June.
No one is freaking out. They're saying he's a dick.

Do you really think the All-Star game generates more money for the NHL than if they played a full slate of regular season games during that time?

He's an entertainer. No matter how important he may think his job is, he's not curing cancer or anything. Entertaining fans is his job.

There a lot of people all star weekend are a joke and being angry if a player feel the same.

There something nice in Kucherov giving a show being a heel, there something nice about a only cups matter type of attitude (and now that Tampa bay need to fight for their place in the playoff again not wanting to miss a game).

At the same time, you are paid a giant amount to be a professional athlete (a group that get 50% of the giants revenues without the financial risk) and you can spoil the experience for the others players, crowds, kids at home watching, it is not the place-way to be cool, there is not really a way to be in the circumstance.

I told all my 12 children family to stop to buy Kucherov movies tickets now.
Could just allow the players to decline.

It was disappointing to see, no excuse for that whatsoever. You could tell that he didn't have the players respect either, really bad look for him.

I actually watched. I don’t think it was an FU to the fans or kids. More just kinda embarrassing. High schooler type stuff where you think you’re too cool. Forget the mil, you’re already there. Make the most of it.

That said, Sid has sat the whole thing out and skipped the draft. What’s the real difference? I say this as a Pens fan.

Don’t think it’s a big deal

I actually enjoyed the skills comp. Last year was a complete joke those shootouts wearing capes and blindfolds and performing moves my 2 1/2 year old son could pull off was flat out embarrassing.

Sid has sat the whole thing out ... What’s the real difference?
He passed puck on the all-timer events like Bedard, he gave interview, etc... That how an aging veteran can handle the event graciously. (Maybe Kucherov asked to be in a similar situation and was refused)

It is not an actual event with an actual goal, the difference in how you present yourself is everything here.

If the ASG was in Tampa again this year, there's no way Kucherov dogs it. I think a big reason why he dogged it was because he's in Toronto and he doesn't like the Leafs.

But honestly Bedard should have taken Kucherovs spot yesterday. I was dissapointed to see that Bedard was in no competitions.
There is that possibility. Kucherov takes the stuff with the Leafs like way too personally

Hes a f***ing dick head. Fantastic hockey player, but hes a f***ing idiot.

People didnt care about his Montreal stunt becaus people love to hate on Montréal, but it was one of the most classless things Ive witnessed in a post-championship ceremony. Then this... like.

Guy needs to get drilled a little bit.

He wins when it matters. Kuch is a great player with shitty attitude, so what? Every team in NHL would love to have him, so shitty attitude means nothing. Same goes for Marchand et al.

Draisaitl was also just throwing pucks aimlessly at the middle of the net during the accuracy competition, should we make another thread about him?
