Is Kucherov the least liked player in the NHL? (Performance in Skills competition)

Last night I attended a hockey party where they were about 5-6 kids wearing Kucherov jerseys who were excited to see him play and show his skills. A couple of the kids actually took off his jersey and threw it lol

A lot of the parents and kids were quite upset at how he acted in the skills competition and didnt even bother trying, laughed about it and mocked fans.

What do you guys think? Most people at this party were saying even if he didnt want to be there he should have at least sucked it up and gave his fans what they wanted. A few of the kids were extremely upset by his actions and left very disappointed.

Seemed super selfish to me.

Thoughts?
Even if he tried tell me one comp he could have won? Him and Drai are in game players, I don’t think either “tried” because they weren’t very good at them

I mean nobody forced them to pay for a known bad quality product
It may be the only chance some get to see certain players. I haven’t watched an all star game since probably the 80’s but I completely get people booing someone slapping them in the face. Reality is, slap someone, be prepared to be slapped back.

I'll admit not a good look but the OPs story sounds pretty manufactured to me, lol.

As for least liked, probably among Toronto fans, but sure looked like his fellow players enjoyed it, and Mackinnon and others are already on record saying he's the player they most enjoy watching.
Yea, I call bullshit on the OPs story for sure

The all star game is a corporate circle jerk, and is all about generating money for the NHL masquerading as being ‘for the kids’

The people freaking out about him not putting on a show ‘for the kids’ is hilarious in this thread. The show starts in June.

ASG was way more entertaining with a goon at the helm but nooOoOo teh fans cant hav that

He should be free to choose whether he should go to the ASG or not. Fining him for not wanting to be present is also incredibly selfish. He's just demonstrating that he doesn't agree with it and it's good, maybe he'll have an alternative where he won't be forced to lose in the future. Tell that part to your kids as well.

Kids have a chance to see these players at least 82 times a season. On TV or half the time at the arena or at least a few times every season. No need to act hurt just because your little party got destroyed..

Like it or not, this is part of their job. It shouldn’t be taxing for the best players to show up and vaguely care to do their part to grow (or merely keep stable) the game aka strengthen their career.

Yet they’ll be the same ones who are first in line about being embarrassed how little they are paid compared to other athletes, how the game isn’t popular enough, and so on.

I’m normally in the camp of never watching anything to do with All-Star weekend because the league and its stars simply haven’t managed to capture my interest with it, but I watched it last night due to the new skills format and Kucherov really stood out in a bad way.

Everyone else was either enjoying it, tolerating it at worst, and putting in the effort to compete. When you’re the only one not and also sulking at the end of the bench, it's noticeable (did he show blasted or high?).

Of course he deserves to be docked or punished. He didn’t fulfill his actual obligations. Great on ice hockey mind, but completely lacking any critical thought otherwise.

Jack Hughes during the draft basically said he wants to play with Kucherov when they were discussing picks

The All star weekend is a joke.
The skills competitions has become a kids game. That was the biggest joke of a competition as well. Probably will be the most entertaining part of this entire weekend.

There a lot of people all star weekend are a joke and being angry if a player feel the same.

There something nice in Kucherov giving a show being a heel, there something nice about a only cups matter type of attitude (and now that Tampa bay need to fight for their place in the playoff again not wanting to miss a game).

At the same time, you are paid a giant amount to be a professional athlete (a group that get 50% of the giants revenues without the financial risk) and you can spoil the experience for the others players, crowds, kids at home watching, it is not the place-way to be cool, there is not really a way to be cool in the circumstance, you need to embrace the goofiness.

I bet there was no “skills contest watch party”

I told all my 12 children family to stop to buy Kucherov movies tickets now.
