Confirmed with Link: Penguins and Mike Sullivan part ways

WB/S had a great year and then faceplanted in the post season.

I'm not saying it merits immediate gutting but that's a very shitty reoccurring theme organization-wide... folding like a cheap tent.

To be fair, WBS had one of their better years in recent history, no?

In WBS, it's personnel. We just haven't been able to provide them with much. I don't view the situations in Pit and WBS as the same.
Yeah, but that's not saying much, plus that wet fart of a playin was bad. I don't really think either way it's about them winning, but mostly if you want a developmental guy there, put a developmental guy there. If you want to compete, put a guy who runs the things like the big club there.

It just makes no sense to keep the farm the way it is after this, IMO, and maybe that's unfair, but them's the breaks.

I assume Dubas presser will be nothing but contemporary corporate nomenclature but I’m interested.

I didn’t realize Sully is 57. I wouldn’t want to spend the next four years treading water, then an other six or seven rebuilding.

One thing that absolutely positively must change is our preferred "rookie" age needs to become much younger than 26 for %$# sakes. Because, you know, that isn't even a rookie, technically.

The Penguins do something that I rarely see other franchises do...they sign older NCAA players to AHL deals, and then wait a year or two before giving them an ELC. Avery Hayes comes to mind. The first time I watched A. Hayes play a preseason game, I knew he was an NHL prospect. We need to be more aggressive and take more chances. You can't wait for a fully formed player all the time. You can't always play it safe with prospects. You have to gamble. You have to take chances. You have to promote youth at a much much earlier time than what we have been doing.

No more excuses.

When was the last time a GM of an NHL team did a presser and absolutely shit on a coach he just fired and came out looking better for it?

It's going to be formal.

"Listen Kyle... it's time. After this disaster season I'm going to insist that we circle back to my idea about putting chowder in all the water bottles. It's GOING to help trust me that's what I used to do."

I’m not asking him to be unprofessional and shit on someone. It’s really shouldn’t be that hard to be transparent while being respectful.

His first NHL gig was with the Bruins right before the lockout. He had to go the Cassidy route and remake himself before taking over here.

People are mentioning Boston, but New York makes the most sense.

Dubas has definitely listened and obliged on SOME of Sullivan's demands, I believe. I think re-signing Ryan Shea before the end of this past season looks to me like an olive branch from Dubas to Sullivan. I also think Dubas would not have signed Matt Grzelczyk last season, but I think he did so to appease Sullivan. I also think NOT trading Grz and Acciari at the deadline was another olive branch from Dubas to Sullivan.

He probably also brought in Quinn to appease his coach, too. And conversely, Sullivan probably accepted the Dubas insistence that guys like McGroarty and Koivunen be called up and given loads of playing time. There was probably a ton of give and take these last two seasons.

The list probably became too long and the results were way too short for Dubas's liking. The stunning part is that Dubas was able to convince FSG.

Maybe he got them when they were in a good mood after the Liverpool title reign.
