Is Kirby Dach ready to be the #1 centre next season?

I was reading Scott Wheeler and I saw that this was in his prospect eval article:

Using that as a guide, Dach really only has one year of development left. By the end of next season he will likely be what he is.

I'm not giving up on him yet, but he's gotta improve over the rest of this season and next. The clock is ticking

:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

You wonder why you get shit for your takes here, and then you post stupid shit like this.

Everyone develops at different rates.

For all we know, Kirby's trajectory could be similar to Mike Hoffman.

But what is a fact is that he needs time in Rockford to reach his full potential. Every player in his position that went on to have a successful career spent time in the minors.

Making an opinion into a fact...alternative facts...Musto facts.

Are you trying to say that you know better than someone who is paid to give their opinion on hockey prospects?

The fact that you think that's the issue I have with this, is silly. It's your cognitive dissonance when it comes to his age.

FYI, he will be 23 years old until ....2025. That's when he turns 24.

I think Wheeler means that prospects are done developing by their age 23 season.

Dach turns 21 this season so he only has 1 more season after this one that would be considered developing. This was my initial interpretation.

No. You think what you want to think. There's no way to know what he means and your interpretation goes against common sense.

Sometimes common sense isn't so common.
Saying something is "common sense" is an intellectually lazy.

You know that people can have identical data and come to different conclusions, right?

What he meant is open to interpretation and we interpreted it differently.

No need to argue. I'm open to other interpretations.

Everyone has biases. I suggest you admit yours every now and then.

I have no agenda. I want Dach to succeed. I was supportive of the Hawks taking him with that pick.

I told everyone at the beginning of the season that I wasn't going to make excuses for him if he didn't produce this year.

I still want him to develop because it's good for the Hawks.

I'm more open to the ideas of those that are critical than you are. That's the only difference.

Jeez why is everything pile on these days. I miss having discussions with people on this board.

Yeah. I know people can have identical data and come to different conclusions. At the end of the day, one of those people is WRONG.

You don't find it even slightly odd that so many people have piled onto your posts over the last year or so? Do you really think it's everyone else not able to have discussions, and not your hyperbole and cognitive bias?

Not ragging on you but (at least for juniors) a players "age x" season is considered to be whatever age they are when they started the season. So this season would be considered Dach's age 20 season and 24/25 would be his age 23 season. Just as an FYI.

Dach first season 64gp 8g 15a 23pts
Dach bubble playoffs 9gp 1g 5a 6pts
Dach next two seasons combined 53gp 8g 16a 24pts

Projection over an 82 game season
Dach first season 10g 19a 29pts
Dach bubble playoffs 9g 46a 55pts
Dach next two seasons combined 12g 25a 37pts

still under .500 pts per game but he is improving…

these last three years of 70, bubble 24 team playinplayoff, 56 and now a so far 6 games postponed seasons have been trying for sure…

Well said. Personal attacks have become the norm for some which leads to some folks reluctant to express their views - hence more useless bickering and less hockey talk. It gets tiring.

Personally, I've never valued points as much as other when it comes to evaluating players. I prefer players that are hard to play against, rather than those who only look to put up points.

Dach has been a bit disappointing for me not because of his lack of production, but because he used to be harder to play against than how is playing now.

It's hard to keep in mind that he is still young, coming off an injury, and playing on what most believe to be a terribly managed team. I'm still optimistic he will turn out just fine in the end.

This is correct.

.....Or, you can twist the math until it fits in with your rhetoric.
