Is Kirby Dach ready to be the #1 centre next season?

The BlackHawks Shit the bed with drafting Dach and the worst they could do was turn him pro at 18! He was far from ready plus he lost last season cause of the injury he sustained so...in a years time after they trade Toews and Kane wants out of the losing situation they will be bottom feeders once more

Thank you for your input, but believe it or not, we don't need fans of other teams telling us we're going to be bottom feeders. Might be true, but not sure we needed you to say it.

What he is? He’s showing what he currently is. I don’t understand what you mean,

Can he be more? I believe so. Maybe that was your point.
Draft year Dach, rookie year Dach, playoff Dach. That's who he is.

The player you're seeing now is a guy that has no confidence, a guy that is being left for dead, and a guy that is probably still healing from injuries.

As I've said time and time again, he needs to go to Rockford. The front office needs to stop f***ing him.
When I saw with the Saskatoon Blades I saw J Carter or a 4th line RWinger...he's a 4th liner cause the BHawks rushed his development kinds like what they did to Grant Mulvey way back in 1974
Good for you, you can't evaluate talent.

You're right that he was rushed, but that's entirely fixable with a stint in Rockford.

Dach flashed in short stretches. The rest of the time he hasn’t, but has still been decent overall.

I don’t understand why you’re so certain that a trip to Rockford is a cure all that will suddenly launch him to elite status.

The reality is he may just never reach the ceiling you and others set for him. Whether that’s the fault of Bowman or just what his natural progression dictated is unknown.

It’s not Dach’s fault that this franchise is so devoid of talent that it can’t handle one prospect not fully reaching an elite ceiling.

Look at the Kings, they collected multiple Dach-level prospects with seemingly high ceilings, they’re not counting on one single prospect to save them. They can stomach one or two of the prospects falling short of their ceiling without wrecking the future.

None of this is Dach’s fault. He’s going to be who he is and the Hawks just need to deal with it. By that I mean keep finding talent and stop pinning hopes to young players who have not proven to be consistent NHL difference makers.

Not only that, but there is a lot of pressure on Dach and Reichel because there's nothing else in the system.

That’s not their fault and there shouldn’t be any extra pressure on them because of it. Nobody should be telling either they’re the only hope for this franchise.

There should be other high end prospects in the pipeline.

They just need to focus on being the best version of them, and not rush their development to try and save a floundering franchise.

You know what else left the building long ago? Good hockey takes from Zawaski's brain
There's not like he has any hockey acumen better than the avg poster here. It's just the connections that are legit he has or had.

I beat you by two years. Still remember Maggie coming to our end of year hockey awards ceremony twice. He must have lived nearby, but at 7-8 years old you don’t think of those things.

I have multiple autographs of everyone. Little slips of white paper. My mom took me to Northbrook where they practiced a couple of times. They used to stay outside until everybody was gone, signing autographs. I have great memories of meeting Bobby Hull.

Seeing Zegras really makes picking Dach seem even more of a letdown. The skills he casually displays is something we dont even see from Dach anymore, let alone see him convert on those

Was Zegras the option at 3? I thought it was Byram being seen as the “clear” choice.

The Zegras angst almost seems like the Mahomes in hindsight stuff.

Zegras was in the discussion if they went forward but then they "fell in love" with Kirby...obviously most people thought they would and should go Byram

That’s all it is. Revisionist shit.

No it is literally not. Zegras was one of the final players hawks had interviews with along with Caufield, Byram and Dach. Musto was literally having an aneuryism every damn day anything positive about Zegras was posted in the draft threads
