Is Kirby Dach ready to be the #1 centre next season?

Drouin's problems went beyond pressure to perform. He's too much of a dangler; wants to hold onto the puck too much, overhandles it in general. In Junior, he was just so much better than the average Junior competition but in the NHL, you can't try to dance with everyone. He never really adapted his playing style.
Yes I agree with you

I'm an outsider (who wants Dach to excel) looking in...

Is there anything positive that can be said about the kid?

What are the odds of him turning things around in a year or two?

I've read he's lazy and has a poor work ethic. Any truth to that?

Thanks!

IMO:

Dach is a pretty decent skater. Good hands. At his best he uses his body to separate opponents from pucks, uses his reach to strip pucks, can skate well enough to cut through the defense on the rush. However, these sightings have been very rare this year...calling them "flashes" would be generous. I won't go into what he doesn't do well.

Yes, I think he can turn it around. He was set back by his injury and this has been a very down year for the team overall.

It's been no secret Kirby has had attitude problems stemming from frustration, but lazy? Not sure.

IIRC, King was quoted saying he assured Kirby will find success if he continues to be a better person and put in the work. Take that as you will. I don't think that's enough to call him lazy, but maybe I missed something.

I haven't heard he is lazy. I think he is trying to find himself while the Hawks try to find an actual head coach to move his career along. That needs to happen first before declaring him a bust. He has had 2 shitty coaches so far.
