Is Kirby Dach ready to be the #1 centre next season?

Again, I say that's BS.

It's just another example of people using offensive stats to rate a player. If Dach was as weak as Nylander was defensively he'd be buried in the AHL (just like Nylander).
Lol wat?

Nylander had a better corsi and more dzs starts then Dach 5v5, close, and tied. This mirage that Nylander was bad defensively is just as translucent as Dach being some two way player on top of being a better skater then Dach, who is average at best.

The point is, if Nylander is a bust, Dach is a bigger one.

Oh FFS. You must be right. A bunch of numbers told you so. :sarcasm:

It wasn’t about Bell being in the NHL its a shot at the ohs and ahs over a lacrosse goal. Who gives a shit. He may embarrass a few players with that and will likely get planted on his ass for it too. Could end up another Drouin
Why is it something you have to get annoyed by? Let him try it in the playoffs and we’ll see if you’re right. He’s creating time and space for himself somehow, which is rare. Appreciate it, no need to hate it

I'm tired of all the Zegras this and that. That hot dog shit won't work in tough playoff games. If i wanted to see that go watch Zac Bell on Tik Tok who has way better hands.
As a part of a fan base that creams about every nice pass Kane makes you shouldn't be surprised that the same folks will love the Zegras tricks. Give me a hardnose Tkachuk any day of the week.

Does it seem like to anyone else that the whole Zegras situation is being overblown because of the announcer's comment? One irrelevant person sparked a narrative that may or may not be true, and everyone naturally jumped to pick a side.

except Zegras is more likely to be an 88 type playoff performer, he's done it at every level of his career so far

Hmmm....

I love Kane's passing and things he can do I know I could not. But Roenick was my fav player and I would have loved big Walt at Chicago with him and Amonte etc. But Kane....we'll he often deserves the "creaming" haha.

Zegras is better at the moment than Dach and we've no idea how good Zegras might be in a playoff series.

As for Dach....the boys lost and I am gutted about that. He's so far off being a number 1 centre its hard to see how it can be turned around.

Is coaching enough to fix him?

Yeah that’s great and all but Dach can’t even show up against the worst team in the NHL in a regular season game

think so yeah, he talked in his spittin chiclets podcast from his rookie year about his junior coach and how they used to scream at each other in practice but it was for the better, he needs a coach that will openly challenge him to reach his potential, some tough love, don't think that is/was king or jc's personalities, he has a lot more to give even if the offensive production is never elite, there is no reason he can't be a good 2c given his size, skating and skill...he's worth more to the hawks to get right than trade for 50c on the dollar to another team, assuming the market wouldn't be the strongest for him relative to where he was pre wrist injury and where he was selected in the draft

best for his career might be able to get a fresh start somewhere else. best for the hawks is to keep him and hope he turns around. Tough spot.

If he converts a third of these high danger scoring chances he seems to always find himself in, we'd be having a different conversation about him. I cant tell you how many times I've seen this kid in front of the goalie all alone with his head down and not looking for net.

is there a player out there of similar status that could be had in a swap much like the deal vegas and philly did with nolan patrick and cody glass

I’ll give you that as he hasn’t looked great. I’m hoping the off season with a healed wrist he can go hard at the gym. I think as others mentioned you have to be motivated to get better. He may need a sports psychologist and/or Gary Roberts

he plays nothing like drouin and a whole lot like kane
I didn’t say he did. I was comparing a highly hyped offensive player who was on the same trajectory. With Drouin that ended when he left Tampa and went to Montreal and the pressure to be the saviour French Canadian was a lot.

Drouin's problems went beyond pressure to perform. He's too much of a dangler; wants to hold onto the puck too much, overhandles it in general. In Junior, he was just so much better than the average Junior competition but in the NHL, you can't try to dance with everyone. He never really adapted his playing style.
